Why is my period so small?

Why is my period so small?

Monthly menstruation for women is an important signal of physical health. Menstrual volume, menstrual color, dysmenorrhea, etc. are all indicators of whether the body is healthy. When experiencing a small amount of menstrual flow, female friends should consider whether their uterus is still healthy. Today we will introduce the reasons that may cause a decrease in menstrual volume during women’s menstrual period. We hope it will be helpful to everyone.

Gynecological experts say that female friends are very worried when the menstrual volume is small and dark in color. Generally speaking, this situation occurs because the black menstrual blood is caused by qi stagnation and blood stasis, and the menstrual blood has been stagnant in the uterus for a long time. Oligomenorrhea refers to less menstrual volume than normal people during menstruation, which is mostly caused by blood deficiency, qi stagnation, blood stasis, cold stagnation in the blood, phlegm obstruction and other reasons.

Therefore, experts recommend that female friends who experience this phenomenon should go to the hospital for examination in time. Generally, diseases that cause irregular menstruation in women are seen in ovarian diseases and cervical diseases. Menstruation is formed after the hormones secreted by the ovaries stimulate the endometrium. The hormones secreted by the ovaries are controlled by the release of hormones from the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. Therefore, whether it is the ovaries, pituitary gland, or hypothalamus that are abnormal in function, it will affect menstruation. There are two main reasons for irregular menstruation, small amount of menstrual flow and dark color:

1. Caused by neuroendocrine dysfunction: mainly due to unstable or defective function of the posterior brain-pituitary-ovarian axis, that is, menstrual disorder.

2. Caused by organic diseases or drugs, including local inflammation of the reproductive organs, tumors and developmental abnormalities, malnutrition, intracranial diseases, other endocrine dysfunctions such as thyroid and adrenal cortex dysfunction, diabetes, Sheehan's disease, liver diseases, blood diseases, etc. Menstrual irregularities may occur in women who use psychiatric drugs, endocrine preparations, or intrauterine devices for contraception.

Everyone has their own standards for the amount of menstrual flow, but if your menstrual flow is still dark in color, it is best to go to the hospital for medical treatment and get the right medicine.
