How to heal a bitten nipple quickly

How to heal a bitten nipple quickly

Nipple biting is a situation that many mothers are prone to during breastfeeding. The pain is quite severe for them, so they also need to understand the correct way to improve it. When breastfeeding, you can let the baby suck the breast that hurts less first to reduce the sucking force on the other side. Also pay attention to alternating breastfeeding positions and don't always let the baby sleep with the nipple in his mouth.

1. How to heal the nipple quickly if it is bitten by the baby

(l) When breastfeeding, start with the breast that is less painful. This will reduce the sucking force of the other breast and allow part of the nipple to be in the baby's mouth to prevent further rupture.

(2) Alternate the position of the baby during breastfeeding so that the sucking force is dispersed around the nipple and areola.

(3) Breastfeed frequently to facilitate milk emptying and soften the areola, making it easier for the baby to suck.

(4) After breastfeeding, squeeze out a small amount of breast milk and apply it on the nipples and areola. Expose and dry the nipples briefly, preferably near a window in the sun. Because breast milk has antibacterial effects and is rich in protein, it is beneficial to the healing of nipple skin.

(5) Wear loose underwear and bras after breastfeeding, and put the nipple cover in the right place to facilitate air circulation and healing of skin lesions.

(6) If the nipple pain is severe or the breasts are swollen and the baby cannot suck the nipple well, breastfeeding can be temporarily stopped for 24 hours, but the milk should be expressed and fed to the baby with a small cup or spoon. Expressing breast milk by hand will not harm the breasts as long as the technique is correct. You can also use a breast pump to extract the milk. If the baby sucks less frequently, it will affect the secretion of milk.

2. How to prevent nipple cracks

1. Early preparation during pregnancy

Understand the condition of your breasts, identify situations that may affect breastfeeding, and prepare and deal with them in a timely manner. Choosing an obstetric institution that supports breastfeeding and a gentle (natural) delivery will reduce unnecessary waste.

2. Natural oils protect the skin

Do not over-clean the nipples, and be careful not to use alcohol or alkaline soap to clean the nipples. Skin contact between mother and baby begins immediately after birth, which can induce the baby's instinct to find and latch on to the breast and avoid most nipple pain caused by latching problems.
