Is wearing an IUD harmful to your body?

If you choose to wear an IUD for contraception, both husband and wife must have a correct understanding of this method. First of all, not every woman is suitable for wearing an IUD, especially those with gynecological diseases should avoid it. For example, some people originally have vaginitis, so the process of IUD insertion may cause the inflammation to worsen. In addition, the IUD insertion may cause harm to the female body.

Is wearing an IUD harmful to your body?

Having an IUD inserted will cause certain harm to the human body. After all, it is a foreign object entering the body and will cause a certain rejection reaction. However, the damage is very small, so don't worry too much. It is easy to remove and can be removed at any time. This is a gynecological problem. If you want to remove the IUD, you should go to a gynecologist.

If you don't feel any discomfort, you don't need to remove the IUD. Don't worry. IUD insertion is voluntary. If you don't want to, you can go to the gynecology department of the hospital to remove it. However, you must take good contraceptive measures in future sexual intercourse, otherwise pregnancy or miscarriage will cause great harm to your body.

IUD insertion has certain side effects, and here are the five most common side effects.

Bleeding: Most women will experience a small amount of bleeding 3-4 days after wearing the IUD. Generally, no treatment is required and the bleeding will heal within a week after wearing the IUD. Increased menstrual flow: In the early stages of wearing the IUD, especially in the first three months, some women will experience an increase in menstrual flow to varying degrees, or a prolonged menstrual period, or irregular spotting. Generally, it will get better naturally after three months. If the menstrual volume increases by 1-2 times compared to before the ring is inserted, or the irregular bleeding lasts for a long time, anemia may have occurred and you should seek medical attention immediately.

Lower abdominal pain or back pain: After wearing the ring, a few women will experience mild lower abdominal pain or back pain. After a short period of adaptation, the symptoms will disappear on their own. If severe pain occurs in the lower abdomen, it may be due to intrauterine and pelvic infection, displacement or incarceration of the contraceptive ring, ectopic pregnancy, etc. You should go to the hospital for detailed examination and treatment as soon as possible. Increased vaginal discharge: If you wear a contraceptive ring with a tail thread, the long-term contact and friction of the tail thread on the cervical membrane may cause a significant increase in cervical secretions, that is, increased vaginal discharge.

Similarly, an IUD without a tail thread can act as a foreign body, irritating the endometrium and causing increased secretions. After a period of time, when the endometrial tissue has fully adapted, the amount of leucorrhea will naturally decrease. If shortly after wearing the ring, not only does the amount of vaginal discharge increase significantly, but also yellow purulent discharge appears, and is accompanied by fever, lower abdominal pain and other discomforts, it is very likely that an infection has occurred and you need to seek medical attention immediately. Infection: A small number of people have developed infection. The reasons are mostly due to failure to pay attention to hygiene after the IUD is placed, or a history of genital tract inflammation, or having sex too early after the IUD is placed. Infection can occur. After antibiotic treatment, the infection can generally be effectively controlled.
