What are the precautions for perineum care bag

When women give birth, their vagina may suffer varying degrees of lacerations or wounds. Some women give birth through episiotomy, while others give birth through vertical incision. We all know that the female vulva is very special and has certain characteristics. It will be contaminated by urine, feces or lochia for a long time. If we do not pay attention to the cleaning of the vulva, it will cause many diseases and harm. Let’s take a look at the things to pay attention to when using a perineum care bag.

Routine vulvar care includes the following :

(1) Rinse the perineum with 1:5000 potassium permanganate or 1:2000 chlorhexidine every day. You can also rinse the vulva with warm water every day. Be sure to rinse from front to back, allowing the water to flow to the anus. It is best to rinse once after each bowel movement. Keep the perineum as clean and dry as possible.

(2) Perineal pads should be made of sterile paper or sanitary napkins and should be changed frequently.

(3) If there is obvious edema in the perineum, you can apply a 33% magnesium sulfate solution wet compress or use a Zhoulin spectrometer to irradiate the perineum 1 to 2 times a day for 20 to 30 minutes each time to speed up the elimination of edema.

(4) Patients with episiotomy incisions should try to lie on the opposite side to avoid lochia flowing into the incision. Before the incision heals, scrub the vulva with 1:2000 Sanisol cotton balls or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution every day, and do it once after urination or defecation.

The stitches for the external incision are usually removed after 4 to 5 days. If the incision is found to be infected, the stitches should be removed as soon as possible, the wound needs to be cleaned and the dressing changed every day, and local irradiation should be performed with Zhoulin spectrometer twice a day for 15 to 30 minutes each time to keep the surface clean and dry. After 10 days, 1:5000 potassium permanganate can be added for a sitz bath, or leek boiled water can be used for a sitz bath or to wash the wound, which is conducive to the healing of the infected wound. The healing time of the infected episiotomy incision will be longer, but it will heal completely without any "problems". The mother should maintain a good attitude and actively cooperate with the treatment, which is also an important factor in recovering as soon as possible.

(5) If the perineal wound is obviously painful or has abnormal perineal discharge, you should be alert to whether the wound is infected and seek medical attention for examination and treatment if necessary.
