What to do if a pregnant woman has conjunctivitis

Many people are very worried about the physical condition of women after pregnancy, and this is also one of the special groups in life. Many women's immunity will be reduced after pregnancy, making them more susceptible to many diseases, such as conjunctivitis. Regardless of the disease, women should be extremely cautious when taking medication after they become pregnant to avoid affecting the fetus. So what should a pregnant woman do if she has conjunctivitis?

1. Health Care

Conjunctivitis is common in late spring and early summer, and is usually transmitted by sharing towels, washbasins, face wash water, handkerchiefs and other items with patients with "pink eye". Sometimes patients have come into contact with other objects, such as pillows, quilts, clothes, door handles, telephones, remote controls, etc., which may be contaminated with germs. For pregnant women, whose immune systems are relatively weak, prevention of conjunctivitis is particularly important. In addition to receiving medical treatment, you should also learn to take care of yourself. Keep your eyes clean. Since there is a lot of eye secretions when suffering from acute conjunctivitis, you cannot rely solely on medication for treatment. It is important to take good care of your eyes and keep them clean at all times.

2. Cold compress

Apply cold compress in the early stage and use steroid eye drops with caution. In the early stage of acute conjunctivitis, cold compress should be applied to the eyes to help reduce swelling and redness. On the contrary, hot compresses will cause the eyeball to become bloodshot, and the inflammation may spread and cause complications. When the inflammation is not under control, avoid using hormonal eye drops. Hormonal eye drops are prohibited for viral conjunctivitis. Therefore, you should follow the advice of an ophthalmologist about whether to use hormonal eye drops. Do not use them on your own. It is important to seek medical attention in a timely manner.

3. Avoid light and heat

Use your eyes less. Patients with severe acute conjunctivitis are photophobic and tearful. To relieve discomfort, they should avoid the stimulation of light and heat. Don't force yourself to read or watch TV. Wear sunglasses when you go out to avoid stimulation from the sun, wind, dust, etc. In order to allow eye secretions to drain smoothly, lower the local temperature and prevent the reproduction and growth of bacteria, the eyes should not be bandaged or covered with eye patches.
