What is the cause of the white milky discharge?

Women's leucorrhea is the shed epithelial cells secreted by the sexual organs during the development and maturation process. When the leucorrhea appears as a white lotion, it may indicate the presence of verification. During the course of vaginitis or pelvic inflammatory disease, the number of white blood cells will increase, so the leucorrhea will be very thick, like snot, and look like lotion. At this time, only anti-infection treatment is needed and the disease can be cured.

1. Colorless, transparent, sticky leucorrhea : It is egg white-like and similar in properties to the mucus secreted by the cervical glands during ovulation, but the amount is significantly increased. Generally, the possibility of chronic endocervicitis, ovarian dysfunction, vaginal adenosis, or well-differentiated cervical adenocarcinoma should be considered.

2. White or grayish yellow foamy leucorrhea : It is a characteristic of Trichomonas vaginitis and may be accompanied by vulvar itching.

3. Curd-like leucorrhea : It is a characteristic of candidal vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching or burning pain.

4. Gray homogeneous leucorrhea with fishy smell : common in bacterial vaginosis.

5. Purulent leucorrhea : yellow or yellow-green in color, sticky, and often smelly. It can be caused by acute vaginitis, cervicitis, and endocervicitis caused by bacteria such as Trichomonas or gonococci. Pyometra, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer or foreign objects retained in the vagina can also cause pus-like leucorrhea.

6. Bloody leucorrhea : If there is blood mixed in the leucorrhea, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical polyps or submucosal fibroids should be considered. Insertion of an intrauterine device can also cause bloody leucorrhea.

7. Possibility of ductal carcinoma .

Abnormal leucorrhea is usually a manifestation of genital tract inflammation. Married women generally have a higher chance of being infected, which is largely related to their frequent sexual life. The man does not wash his hands when caressing with his hands, and his nails are too long to harbor dirt; both parties or one of them does not pay attention to cleaning the lower body before intercourse, especially the man has poor hygiene habits; the man suffers from phimosis or foreskin is too long, and is lazy to urinate and clean after intercourse, etc. These are all important reasons for abnormal leucorrhea in women.

The type of disease can be preliminarily determined by the color, smell and nature of leucorrhea.

1. In case of purulent bacterial infection, the leucorrhea is purulent, yellow or yellow-green, sticky and pus-like, and has a foul odor, such as senile vaginitis, endometritis, pyometra, the currently quite common gonococcal vaginitis, and non-gonococcal vaginitis (chlamydia infection).

2. In case of fungal infection, the leucorrhea will be in the form of tofu dregs, accompanied by obvious vulvar itching, such as Candida infection.

3. When infected with Trichomonas, the leucorrhea will be milky white and foamy, and the vagina will be extremely itchy.

However, the manifestations of abnormal leucorrhea are not as typical as described above, and mixed infections often occur. Therefore, it is impossible to make a clear diagnosis based on simple appearance judgment. It is best to go to the gynecology department for a routine examination in order to get a clear diagnosis and timely treatment. Especially when both parties or one of them has a history of unclean sexual intercourse, they should actively seek medical treatment, preferably in the dermatology and venereology department to avoid misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis. At present, the medical community has corresponding effective drugs for bacterial (including gonococcal), fungal, and Trichomonas vaginal infections, so after finding out the cause, highly targeted and effective treatment can be obtained. Patients with bloody leucorrhea, especially those who are older or have reached menopause, should be more vigilant and seek medical attention as early as possible to avoid delaying the diagnosis and treatment of the tumor. In addition, it should be pointed out that couples suffering from gonorrhea or trichomoniasis must be treated together. Otherwise, if only the woman is treated, the man will still be a carrier of the bacteria or pathogenic microorganisms, and the woman may be reinfected through sexual intercourse after she is cured.
