What techniques are used for pregnant women's belly massage

Expectant mothers are looking forward to the smooth birth of a healthy baby. They have made many preparations to welcome the baby, such as prenatal education, abdominal massage, etc., hoping that their baby will be healthy and smart. For pregnant women, abdominal massage must not be done blindly to avoid affecting the development of the fetus. Appropriate activities are beneficial to the development of the fetus, but do not overwork. What techniques are used to massage the belly of a pregnant woman? Let’s find out.

1. Restoration touch method

Pregnant women can do some back and forth stroking exercises after 3 months of pregnancy, but it is worth noting that the stroking movements should be light and the time should not be too long, 2-5 minutes each time.

Specific method: When the pregnant woman's abdomen is completely relaxed, use your hands to stroke it back and forth from top to bottom and from left to right. You can imagine in your mind that your hands are caressing your lovely baby, and you will suddenly feel a sense of joy. You can communicate with him/her from time to time.

2. Touch, press and tap

After 4 months of pregnancy, in addition to the back and forth stroking method, pregnant mothers can also practice gently touching, pressing and patting their belly.

Specific method: The pregnant woman lies flat on her back and relaxes her abdomen. First, she strokes her abdomen from top to bottom and from left to right with her hands, and gently presses and lifts with her fingers. Then, she gently presses and pats to give the fetus tactile stimulation. Generally, after a few weeks of persistence, the fetus in the pregnant woman's belly will react, such as gently wriggling the body, moving the hands and feet, etc. In addition, start with 5 minutes each time, and after the baby in the belly responds, each time can be extended to 5-10 minutes. At the same time, it should be noted that when pressing and patting the fetus in the belly, the movements must be gentle. The expectant mother should also pay attention to the reaction of the fetus in her belly. If she feels the fetus struggling or kicking, it means he does not like it, and she can stop immediately.

3. Push walking method (not to be used lightly)

After 6-7 months of pregnancy, when the pregnant mother can clearly feel the fetus's head, back and limbs on her abdomen, she can add push walking exercises.

Specific method: The pregnant woman lies flat on the bed, relaxes her whole body, gently strokes, presses, and pats her abdomen back and forth. At the same time, she can gently push the fetus with her hands to let the fetus "take a walk and do exercises" in the uterus. However, it should be noted that this method has relatively high requirements. Xiaolonggong Mother and Baby recommends not to use it lightly and to do it under the guidance of a doctor to avoid abdominal pain, uterine contractions, and even premature birth caused by improper or excessive force. Each time should take 5-10 minutes. The movements should be gentle and natural, and the force should be even and appropriate. Do not be rough or use excessive force. If the fetus twists its body back and forth vigorously in the stomach, you should stop pushing immediately and gently stroke the abdomen with your hands. The fetus will naturally calm down.

4. Precautions

Medically, doctors do not recommend pregnant women to touch their belly frequently, especially in the late pregnancy, as frequent touching can stimulate uterine contractions and cause premature birth. Especially for some pregnant women with placenta previa, signs of premature birth or frequent fetal movements, they should avoid frequent peritoneal stimulation of the abdomen.
