Why do blood clots during menstruation look like lumps of meat?

The old people say that Qi and blood are the foundation of human existence and the decisive factor of health, and menstruation is a good way to judge whether a woman has sufficient Qi and blood. It is a physiological cycle that usually occurs in fertile women or animals. Normally humans have menstruation every other month, and there are cyclical changes. Generally speaking, when a girl has her menstrual period, she has grown into an adult physically. However, some female friends have extremely irregular lives or do not take good care of themselves in daily life, which can lead to menstrual disorders or symptoms of blood clots during menstruation. So what should they do if blood clots appear during menstruation?

1. Causes

If the menstrual blood is dark red with blood clots, it is a sign of "blood stasis and qi stagnation" and can be treated with ingredients such as Chuanxiong, Salvia miltiorrhiza, and Safflower. If the menstrual blood is less in quantity and lighter in color, it is a sign of "blood deficiency and body weakness" and you should use angelica, astragalus, rehmannia, longan, ginseng, etc. to nourish the body. If you have cold hands and feet, eat cinnamon twigs, fennel, and mugwort to warm your body.

2. Dietary improvement and conditioning

It is advisable to drink high-protein and low-fat drinks, take more vitamins C and E to promote smooth blood circulation in the pelvis and reduce pain caused by congestion, and supplement with rich calcium and magnesium to relax the muscles. The food should be mainly warm from 3 days before MC to the end of the menstrual period. Eat less grilled, fried, spicy or pickled foods, and avoid watermelon, pear, coconut and grapefruit to avoid affecting blood vessel constriction. Carve cabbage, bitter gourd, and white radish and eat with ginger and jujube sweet tea (everyone knows this) - peel the ginger, flatten it with the back of a knife and set aside, put the ginger and red dates in a pot, add water and boil over high heat, then simmer for 5 minutes on low heat and add brown sugar. You can also eat motherwort. Don't drink brown sugar before going to bed or if you have a sore throat.

ps: Motherwort is actually not very good for the stomach, so don’t eat it if possible.

3. Notes

Menstrual blood is dark red like venous blood, but bright red when the amount is excessive. It contains degenerated omental fragments, cervical mucus, vaginal epithelial cells, a large number of bacteria and vulvar sebaceous gland secretions. The main characteristic of menstrual blood is that it does not coagulate, which is due to fibrinolysis. Menstrual blood is coagulated just after leaving the blood circulation, but the endometrium that begins to peel off contains more activators, which can activate the plasminogen mixed in the menstrual blood into plasmin, breaking down the coagulated fibrin into mobile degradable substances, and turning the menstrual blood into liquid state. The non-coagulation of menstrual blood is not only limited to the cervical cavity, but the cervical mucus also contains fibrinolytic enzymes. Therefore, the non-coagulation of menstrual blood is the result of the simultaneous action of both the coagulation and thrombolysis systems. However, if the blood flows too quickly and the anticoagulant in the uterus is relatively insufficient, blood clots will flow out. Therefore, the presence of blood clots in menstrual blood is a sign of heavy menstrual bleeding and rapid blood flow. In addition, low back pain is a common phenomenon, but do not hit your back during menstruation: Many women often feel low back pain before and after menstruation, so they often use their hands to hit their backs to relieve low back pain. This kind of knocking is not advisable. This is because, during menstruation, women experience discomfort due to pelvic congestion, such as lower abdominal distension, diarrhea, back pain, frequent urination, constipation, etc. Some women also experience systemic symptoms such as fatigue, drowsiness, edema, and irritability. These are normal physiological phenomena during menstruation.

However, some people artificially beat their waist and back hard, which will make the pelvic cavity more congested and blood flow faster, leading to excessive menstruation and prolonged menstruation, which will make the waist and back pain more severe. At the same time, because women's whole body and genital resistance decreases during menstruation, beating the waist is not conducive to the repair and healing of the wound caused by endometrial shedding during menstruation, and it is easy to cause infection and gynecological diseases.
