What does cervical mucus indicate?

Many friends actually don’t understand cervical mucus, nor do they know what can be seen from it. Cervical mucus is a normal secretion. Its condition can actually reflect whether the ovaries are normal. For example, it can be judged based on its amount and transparency. Cervical mucus can also predict ovulation and early pregnancy outcomes.

Cervical mucus is a glycoprotein gel secreted by glandular cells of the cervical mucosa, and its state is affected by various ovarian hormones. Before ovulation, cervical mucus gradually increases due to the influence of estrogen; after ovulation, it gradually decreases due to the influence of progesterone. As ovulation approaches, not only does the amount of mucus secretion increase, but it also becomes thinner, transparent, and elastic, like water or raw egg white, making it easier for sperm to pass through and prolonging the survival time of sperm. Therefore, by monitoring cervical mucus, you can easily and intuitively track your fertile period.

The main observation of cervical mucus is based on its amount, transparency, etc.

Cervical mucus is subject to cyclical changes in sex hormones and also undergoes cyclical changes. The daily secretion amount is the same, but it changes infinitely and has its sacred mission in each period.

For example, around the ovulation period, the water content of cervical mucus increases, reaching 98%, so the leucorrhea is watery, has the lowest viscosity, becomes tough, and can be stretched to 12 cm with tweezers without breaking. Under a microscope, you can see a very beautiful pattern, like neatly arranged small palm leaf-like branches. Medically, it is called "fern-like crystallization", which indicates that ovulation has occurred. In order for the sperm (the volume of the egg is 180 times the volume of the sperm, and the length of the egg is nearly 3 times the length of the sperm) to pass through the cervical canal smoothly into the uterine cavity, proper preparations must be made. This is a physiological change. It's magical and mysterious, and it shows that it was carefully designed and arranged.

The significance of cervical mucus examination

A. Predict ovulation and guide conception: The effect will be better if ovulation is estimated and the conception date is selected in conjunction with basal body temperature and vaginal exfoliated cell examination.

B. Early pregnancy: If the smear is all ellipsoids without fern-like crystals, it indicates pregnancy.

C. Amenorrhea: Cervical mucus undergoes periodic changes, indicating that the ovaries are functioning well and the cause of the disease is in the uterus.

The standard for normal menstruation should be measured from four aspects: menstrual cycle, menstrual period, menstrual blood volume and menstrual blood color.
