What does it mean to have reddish-brown discharge in early pregnancy?

In the early stages of pregnancy, the body is at its most vulnerable. You must be cautious during this period and beware of threatened miscarriage. Spotting in early pregnancy is a normal phenomenon and generally will not cause miscarriage. Usually you need to rest for a few days and check. If you still experience spotting and bleeding, you should go to the hospital for a detailed examination.

Spotting during early pregnancy

The bleeding may be pink, red, or brown in color. About 1/4 of pregnant women will experience varying degrees of spotting in the early stages of pregnancy, and about half of them will eventually miscarry.

If the blood is brown, expectant mothers do not need to worry too much. Brown blood means that the bleeding has stopped, so it will oxidize into brown. Just get more rest and avoid exercise. If the blood is bright red, you should be careful and go to the hospital for treatment immediately; if the vaginal discharge is brown, it is recommended to rest in bed. Generally speaking, bleeding can be improved, but whether the blood is brown or bright red, you must let your doctor know so that you can provide timely assistance.

Reasons and suggestions

1. Implantation bleeding. When the fertilized egg implants in the uterine wall, you may experience slight bleeding for a day or two. Implantation of the fertilized egg occurs 6 to 7 days after fertilization, or even about 10 days.

Recommendation: Regardless of the color of the blood, if abnormal bleeding occurs once a day, you must rest in bed for three days, avoid sit-ups and other exercises that involve the abdomen, and avoid holding urine, constipation and other situations that will increase intra-abdominal pressure.

2. Threatened abortion. Fetal chromosomal abnormalities, congenital uterine developmental abnormalities and acquired defects, immune system problems, infections and other factors can easily cause miscarriage.

Suggestion: More than half of miscarriages may be caused by abnormalities in the embryo itself. Because humans have the ability to self-eliminate, if the pregnancy can continue, most fetuses are normal.
