Is biochemical pregnancy a sperm problem?

What is a biochemical pregnancy? It refers to the situation where the fertilized egg does not continue to develop in the uterus after fertilization, and finally a blood clot similar to menstruation appears, which is also a phenomenon of miscarriage. However, biochemical pregnancy is not as harmful to the body as a miscarriage. There are many reasons for biochemical pregnancy, such as the quality of the fertilized egg, female endocrine abnormalities, mood stress, etc. Let’s take a look at the detailed introduction below.

Causes of chemical pregnancy

1. The fertilized egg itself is defective. Whether there is a problem with the sperm quality or the egg development is poor, it will lead to low quality of the fertilized egg. It does not have enough "strength" to reach the uterus, or after reaching the uterus it does not have enough "strength" to implant, so it has to choose to leave. It is recommended to check the man's semen, monitor the woman's ovulation, and even the chromosomes of both parties to find possible causes.

2. Abnormal uterine function or insufficient hormone secretion. Factors such as uterine hypoplasia, submucous uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps, intrauterine adhesions, and endometrial tuberculosis can make it difficult for the fertilized egg to "set up camp" in the uterus. Abnormal ovarian corpus luteum function and insufficient progesterone secretion can also hinder the implantation of the fertilized egg. It is recommended to examine the uterus and endometrium, and measure hormones during the menstrual cycle to determine whether there is a problem in this area.

3. Immune antibodies are “incompatible”. There are two types of immunity: alloimmunity and autoimmunity. Alloimmunity: Sperm, seminal plasma or fertilized egg are antigenic substances. After being absorbed by the vaginal and uterine epithelium, they produce antibody substances through immune reaction, which prevents the sperm and egg from combining or the fertilized egg from implanting; Autoimmunity: There are zona pellucida autoantibodies in female serum, which can prevent sperm from penetrating the egg after reacting with the zona pellucida, thereby preventing fertilization. It is recommended to have a blood test to check immune antibodies and blocking antibodies to determine whether there is a problem in this regard.
