What is the differential diagnosis method for Trichomonas vaginitis?

Trichomonas vaginitis spreads quickly and affects a wide range of people. It is an extremely harmful gynecological disease. Some people who suffer from Trichomonas vaginitis will quickly transmit the disease to their spouse if they do not receive timely treatment. Therefore, the treatment principle of this disease is that couples should be treated together and avoid sexual intercourse during treatment to prevent secondary infection. The differential diagnosis of Trichomonas vaginitis is not very difficult. Its symptoms are foamy leucorrhea and vulvar itching. After testing, Trichomonas is found in the vagina.

Diagnosis of Trichomonas vaginitis:

1. Symptoms:

The main symptoms are increased thin, foamy leucorrhea and vulvar itching, which may be accompanied by burning sensation, pain and dyspareunia. If accompanied by urethral infection, there will be frequent urination, urgency, pain or hematuria. About 9-56% of patients may have no symptoms.

2. Physical signs:

Physical examination revealed obvious congestion of the vaginal mucosa and cervical vaginal area, with bleeding spots. There was a large amount of leucorrhea in the vagina, which was yellow-white, gray-yellow thin foamy liquid or yellow-green purulent secretions.

3. Diagnostic criteria:

Based on the medical history, vulvar itching and excessive foamy vaginal discharge, this disease can be considered.

1. Vaginal secretions must be examined under a microscope, and the diagnosis can be confirmed if Trichomonas is seen. The easiest way to check for Trichomonas is the hanging drop method: add a drop of warm saline on a glass slide, take a small amount of vaginal secretions from the posterior fornix, mix it with the saline on the glass slide, and immediately look for Trichomonas under a low-power microscope. If Trichomonas is present, it can be seen moving in a wave-like manner, and the surrounding white blood cells can also be seen being moved. For symptomatic patients, the positive rate of the hanging drop method can reach 80-90%.

2. For suspected patients, if Trichomonas cannot be found through multiple hanging drop methods, the patient can be sent for culture, the accuracy of which can reach about 98%.
