How long does it take for postpartum disease to show up?

If you don’t take proper care of yourself during the confinement period, you are likely to suffer from postpartum diseases. Postpartum diseases sometimes appear during the confinement period, while others may only appear slowly after a few years. Therefore, you must not relax during the confinement period. You must pay more attention to your health, not catch cold, and avoid developing a root of disease, which will have an adverse effect on women's future health.

1. The indoor temperature should be appropriate (generally 18-20℃). Keep windows open to keep the indoor air fresh. But avoid direct wind. The mother's clothing and bedding should be appropriate, not too thick or too thin, and should be as comfortable as possible. Don't cover yourself too tightly in the summer. Some people think that mothers should not be exposed to the wind, so they wear thick clothes even in the summer. This will prevent the heat in the mother's body from being excreted, which can easily lead to heatstroke.

2. Pay attention to dietary regulation. In the first few days after delivery, you should eat easily digestible, nutritious and non-greasy food. Such as porridge, noodle soup and the like. Later, gradually increase the amount of food according to the mother's appetite. For the health of mother and child, eat high-calorie, high-protein and high-vitamin foods. Such as eggs, meat, chicken, beans, milk, fresh vegetables and fruits. The diet should be well-balanced and diversified, and both meat and vegetables should be eaten. Do not avoid certain foods and drink more soup to ensure the secretion of milk.

3. Activities. Rest in bed within 24 hours after a normal delivery, and you can get up and move around after 24 hours. On the third day or after the stitches on the delivery wound are removed, you can do postpartum exercises to promote urination and defecation, restore physical strength, and reduce venous thrombosis. Heavy physical labor should be avoided within 6 weeks of delivery to prevent uterine prolapse.

4. Pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene after delivery. Keep the vulva clean and wash it with warm water or 1/1000 potassium permanganate solution every day. If the perineum is edematous or swollen and painful, apply 50% magnesium sulfate or 75% alcohol gauze. Avoid contaminating the wound after urination or defecation. If the wound becomes infected and festering, seek medical treatment immediately. The metabolism is high after childbirth, and sweating is a normal phenomenon. Clothes should be changed in time. If it is summer, the mother can take a shower when her body can support it, but she must not take a tub bath to prevent sewage from flowing into the vagina and causing infection. When the weather is cold, you can just wipe your body every 2-3 days.

5. Breast care. The day after giving birth, the mother can let the baby suck on her nipple to promote milk secretion. Generally speaking, primiparas start to secrete milk 3 days after delivery, while multiparas start to secrete milk 2 days after delivery. Initially, only a small amount of yellow, thin milk, called colostrum, is secreted. Later, the breasts begin to swell, the amount of milk begins to increase, and the milk is milky white. The mother should scrub her breasts and nipples with soap and warm water every day, wash her hands before breastfeeding, and develop the habit of breastfeeding at regular intervals, once every 3-4 hours, with each breastfeeding not exceeding 20 minutes. Alternate breast feeding.
