How does Traditional Chinese Medicine treat uterine prolapse?

It is also possible to use traditional Chinese medicine to treat uterine prolapse, but this treatment method is more suitable for mild uterine prolapse. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment needs to be based on the cause of the disease. For example, the treatment methods used for uterine prolapse caused by qi deficiency and kidney deficiency are also different. Patients must pay attention to uterine prolapse and seek treatment as soon as possible.

TCM diagnosis of uterine prolapse:

The pathogenesis of uterine prolapse is always caused by deficiency of vital energy, but clinically we should focus on distinguishing the three syndromes of qi deficiency, kidney deficiency or deficiency with excess. Those who feel tired and discouraged, and have a prolapsed lower abdomen, mostly suffer from qi deficiency; those who often suffer from back pain, weak knees, a prolapsed lower abdomen, and frequent urination, mostly suffer from kidney deficiency; those with ulcerated surface of prolapsed uterus and heavy vaginal discharge, are suffering from damp heat, and should be carefully examined and differentiated clinically.

1. Qi deficiency

Main symptoms: The uterus moves downward or prolapses outside the vaginal opening, which is aggravated by exertion and disappears when lying down. The lower abdomen falls, the limbs are weak, the breath is short and the speech is lazy, and the complexion is pale. The urination is frequent, the vaginal discharge is large in amount and thin in color. The tongue is pale with a thin coating, and the pulse is weak and thready.

Analysis: The spleen governs the middle qi. If the spleen is deficient, the middle qi is insufficient and easily sinks, resulting in a falling lower abdomen and prolapse of the uterus. The spleen governs the limbs. If the spleen is deficient and the middle yang is weak, the limbs will be weak, the person will be short of breath and lazy to speak, and the complexion will be pale. If the lower qi is deficient, the bladder will fail to function, resulting in frequent urination. If the spleen is deficient and cannot transport and transform water and dampness, dampness and turbidity will flow downward, resulting in a large amount of leucorrhea with a clear and thin texture. A pale tongue with thin coating and a weak and thready pulse are both signs of qi deficiency.

2. Kidney deficiency

Main symptoms: Uterine prolapse, sore waist and weak legs, prolapse of the lower abdomen, frequent urination, especially at night, dizziness and tinnitus, pale red tongue, and weak pulse.

Analysis: The waist is the home of the kidneys, which store essence and connect to the uterus. If the kidneys are deficient, the Chong and Ren meridians will be unstable and the Dai meridian will be out of control, resulting in uterine prolapse, sore waist and weak legs, and a sagging lower abdomen. The kidneys and bladder are the exterior and interior of each other. If the kidneys are deficient, the bladder's qi transformation will not function properly, so urination will be frequent, especially at night. If the kidney essence is insufficient, the clear orifices will not be nourished, so there will be dizziness and tinnitus. A pale red tongue and a weak pulse are both caused by kidney deficiency.

3. Dampness and heat

Main symptoms: The uterus prolapses out of the vaginal opening, the surface is ulcerated, yellow water drips, or there is burning sensation in the urine, or dry and bitter taste in the mouth, red tongue, yellow and greasy tongue coating, and deep and weak pulse.

Analysis: Due to Qi deficiency or kidney deficiency, the uterus is protruded from the vaginal opening for a long time, damaged by friction from clothes, and easily invaded by damp-heat evil toxins, which accumulate in the lower part, so the surface is ulcerated and yellow water drips; damp-heat accumulates in the lower part of the body, causing burning urine; damp-heat steaming up causes bitter and dry mouth every day, and a red tongue with a greasy yellow coating. Since uterine prolapse is caused by qi deficiency or kidney deficiency, the pulse is deep and weak.
