What should pregnant women prepare when entering the delivery room?

Pregnant women tend to be more excited in the later stages of pregnancy. On the one hand, I am about to meet my baby, but on the other hand, I am afraid of giving birth. At this time, pregnant women will also have a certain degree of anxiety and don’t know what to prepare before entering the delivery room. Clinically, some pregnant women even suffer from prenatal depression. As family members, we should pay more attention to pregnant women and help them prepare some things they will need after delivery when we have time.

Items that a pregnant woman needs to bring when she goes to the delivery room to wait for delivery:

1. Clean towels

When your wife is in great pain from contractions, you can gently wipe her sweat off with a towel soaked in warm water and help her relax and feel comfortable through massage. 

2. Portable bedpan

Not all hospitals provide rooms with private bathrooms, so it is necessary to bring your own bedpan. 

3. A considerable amount of toilet paper

This is something no one would forget to carry. 

4. Straw

When a woman is preparing to give birth on the delivery bed, or when she is lying in bed after giving birth and cannot move freely, she needs a straw to drink water to avoid suffocation caused by choking on water. 

5. Chocolate or foods that can provide calories in a short period of time

The mother needs these to maintain sufficient physical strength to complete the entire process of childbirth. Usually at this time she would not have a good appetite due to the severe pain. 

6. Pads or sanitary napkins

Once labor begins, you will see a large amount of bloody fluid called "blood dew" continuously flowing out of the vagina. This is caused by the continuous descent of the fetal head and the continuous expansion of the cervix. At this time, a clean mat is needed to keep the bed dry. After delivery, bleeding will continue to flow out, lasting for more than 10 days after delivery or even longer. Using clean and sterile sanitary napkins at this time can effectively prevent postpartum infection and pelvic inflammatory disease.

7. Cool liquids

Labor pains cause expectant mothers to be physically exhausted and sweat profusely; providing sufficient cool liquids in time to prevent them from becoming dehydrated.
