What to do if milk ducts are blocked?

Blocked milk ducts are a common problem faced by many women, especially during breastfeeding. The impact and pain caused to women are relatively large. The milk ducts can be unblocked through some massage methods, and the baby can be allowed to suck more.

1. Use your thumb on one side, and put the other four fingers together on the other side, open the base of your thumb, and push from the outside of the chest to the center to prevent the chest from expanding outward, 30 times on each side.

2. Keep your hands in the same shape and start from your left chest. Use your left hand to push the left breast toward the center from the outside. After reaching the center, use your right hand to push the left breast upward from the bottom until it reaches the clavicle. That is to say, use both hands to push the left breast. Repeat 30 times. Switch to the right breast. This action is very important.

3. Make your hands into a cup shape with your five fingers slightly apart so that they can cover your breasts. Bend down slightly, cover your breasts with both hands, and pull from the bottom (not the lower part) toward the nipples. Repeat 20 times.

4. Use your hands to make circular massage around the breasts.

5. Allow your baby to finish breastfeeding each time. If the baby does not finish breastfeeding, you can massage with your hands or use a breast pump to squeeze out the remaining milk. If the milk ducts are blocked during breastfeeding, try not to let the baby sleep with the nipple in the mouth, as this may cause the baby to cut and bite the nipple and induce infection. The amount of milk is controlled by endocrine hormones and also depends on the development of the breast tissue itself, which are all congenital conditions.

6. If the mammary ducts are blocked, in order to maintain sufficient milk supply, the mother must also pay attention to getting enough sleep and rest during the lactation period, getting more sun exposure, breathing more fresh air, having a regular living and eating schedule, and not being too nervous about the pace of life.
