What is the normal endometrium? Gynecologists tell you

Under normal circumstances, the thickness of a woman's endometrium is between 5-10 mm, and the thickness of the endometrium also changes periodically, with different thicknesses at different times. It is abnormal if the endometrium is too thin.

1. The thickness of the endometrium changes cyclically

1. Proliferative phase: During the ovarian cycle, when the follicles in the ovaries develop and mature, under the action of estrogen secreted by the ovaries, the endometrium proliferates, which is the proliferative endometrium.

2. Secretory phase: After ovulation, under the action of progesterone and estrogen secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovary, the proliferating endometrium has a secretory phenomenon, which is the secretory phase endometrium.

3. Menstrual period: After the corpus luteum in the ovary degenerates, due to the decrease in the amount of estrogen and progesterone, the endometrium loses its support and becomes necrotic and flaky, which manifests as menstruation. This period is called the menstrual endometrium.

2. Changes in the endometrium during different periods

Proliferative phase: approximately from the 5th to the 9th day of the menstrual cycle, the endometrium is very thin, the glands are sparse, the glandular ducts are narrow and straight, and the glandular cavity surface is flat. During the 10th to 14th day of the menstrual cycle, the endometrium becomes thicker and wavy, the glands and stroma proliferate significantly, and the number of glands begins to increase.

Secretory phase: From the 15th to the 19th day of the menstrual cycle, which is 1 to 5 days after ovulation, the endometrium continues to thicken and the glands further increase in size and curvature. Around the 20th to 24th day of the menstrual cycle, which is 6 to 10 days after ovulation, the endometrium shows a high degree of secretory activity, and the curvature and expansion of the glands reach a peak. In the late secretory phase, the thickness of the endometrium is about 5 to 6 mm.

Premenstrual period: approximately from the 25th to the 28th day of the menstrual cycle, which is 11 to 14 days after ovulation, which is equivalent to the regression period of the corpus luteum. The glands and glandular epithelial cells begin to shrink, degenerate, and secretions dry up, showing a phenomenon of exhaustion, and the thickness of the endometrium decreases by 1/5 to 1/3. 4 to 24 hours before the onset of menstruation, local spasmodic contraction occurs in the intimal spiral arterioles, causing ischemia and necrosis of the intima distal to the spasm. The permeability of the blood vessel wall increases, followed by vasodilation, and blood flows out of the broken blood vessels.

3. Diet therapy for thin endometrium

Method 1: Eat glutinous rice porridge twice a day, morning and evening (30 grams of black beans, 60 grams of rice. In any case, glutinous rice is twice as much as black beans.

Method 2: Soak some black beans in clean water for about 12 hours, then cook them until cooked through, adding a little salt. Starting from the first day after the end of menstruation, take 47 pills a day for 6 consecutive days.

Diet therapy for thin endometrium

Donkey-hide gelatin, black fungus, snow frog, continuous drinking of soy milk, black-bone chicken stew, honey + walnut + black sesame seeds, and eating more melon seeds can help thicken the endometrium.

The above article is what I will introduce to you today about the changes in the thickness of the endometrium at different stages. I believe everyone has a more comprehensive understanding of the normal value of endometrial thickness. What is the thickness of the endometrium? I hope the above article can help everyone. I wish all female friends can have a healthy body.
