Symptoms and treatment of balanitis

Symptoms and treatment of balanitis

Balanitis is a common reproductive disease in men. Common symptoms include local redness or swelling, burning and itching in the foreskin and glans area. Some people may even experience congestion and erosion of the glans. When it comes to treatment, more attention should be paid to local cleanliness and hygiene, or circumcision if necessary.

(1) Acute superficial balanitis initially causes local redness, redness and swelling of the penis skin, and a burning and itching sensation on the glans penis. When the foreskin is turned back, one can see that the inner surface of the foreskin and the glans are congested and eroded, with exudate and even bleeding. After secondary infection, small ulcers may be seen with foul-smelling milky white purulent secretions. If it rubs against underwear, it will be painful and patients often have difficulty in moving. There may be swelling and tenderness of the inguinal lymph nodes.

(2) Annular ulcerating balanitis: Red spots can be seen on the glans and foreskin. They gradually expand and become ring-shaped, and may form superficial ulcers.

(3) Candida albicans balanitis: Red spots can be seen on the foreskin and glans, with a smooth surface and small blisters. The edges of the red spots are clear, and there are erosions and exudation during acute attacks.

(4) Trichomonas balanitis causes papules and erythema on the glans penis, which gradually expand and have clear edges. Small needle-sized blisters can be seen on the erythema, and finally an erosive surface is formed.

(5) The basic principle of Western medicine treatment is anti-inflammatory and bactericidal. Generally, both internal and external treatments are used.

Pay attention to local hygiene, clean the glans and foreskin daily. If the foreskin is too long, treat it in time and perform circumcision when necessary. It is very necessary to clean the smegma in time.
