Vaginal bloody discharge, experts reveal the reasons behind it

It is normal for women to have some vaginal discharge. Most of the time it is leucorrhea, but sometimes there is bloody discharge. Excluding menstruation, this is definitely abnormal. So what are the causes of this situation?

1. Causes of bloody vaginal discharge

Vaginal secretions are mainly leucorrhea. There are two types of vaginal secretions with blood: physiological and pathological. Physiological leucorrhea abnormalities: sometimes due to the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive ring, some blood will be mixed in the leucorrhea. In addition, some women will experience ovulation bleeding during the ovulation period, which is mid-menstrual bleeding. It refers to a small amount of bleeding between two normal menstrual periods, which may be accompanied by varying degrees of lower abdominal pain. If the symptoms are mild at this time, no treatment is required. If the bleeding is heavy or affects fertility, medication can be used for treatment.

However, if there is bloody leucorrhea, you should also consider the possibility of the following diseases: cervical polyps; acute vaginitis; severe cervical erosion; senile vaginitis; cervical cancer; submucous uterine fibroids; and endometrial cancer.

In addition, sometimes due to the placement of an intrauterine contraceptive ring, there may be some blood mixed in the leucorrhea.

Clinically, it is common in vaginitis, vaginal cancer, cervical erosion, etc.

2. Diagnosis of vaginal bloody discharge:

If the leucorrhea is abnormal, contains blood or is bloody, colposcopy can assist in the diagnosis.

Differential diagnosis:

Uterine erosion: Women with cervical erosion will experience irregular vaginal bleeding or contact bleeding during sexual intercourse. This phenomenon is caused by cervical erosion. Because the new epithelium covering the surface is very thin, the blood vessels and red tissue underneath can be seen. During sexual intercourse, there is direct contact between the penis and the cervix, which can cause damage to the cervix, resulting in a small amount of blood, or leucorrhea with blood. If the amount of bleeding is heavy, symptoms such as urgency and frequency of urination may also occur.

3. Treatment and care of vaginal bloody discharge:

Vaginal discharge, like menstruation, is a normal physiological manifestation of women. Some people regard abnormal secretions as something obscene that should not be allowed to see the light of day, and some married women regard normal secretions as pathological, feeling anxious and confused. These are all unnecessary.

Note: If you are sure that your menstruation has ended, but your vaginal discharge contains blood, you should take it seriously and go to the hospital for examination immediately! Don't delay!

If there is blood in the leucorrhea, even if there are no symptoms such as abdominal pain and fever, it must be caused by an illness. If this phenomenon occurs in postmenopausal women, it may be a precursor to a serious illness. Do not take it lightly. It is better to see a doctor in time. Moreover, the presence of blood in the leucorrhea indicates bleeding in the female reproductive organs. For example, during the reproductive period, physiological and regular bleeding is menstruation. In addition, it is an important signal of the occurrence of disease, and this signal is not deceptive.

Among them, bloody leucorrhea or leucorrhea mixed with blood should alert you to the possibility of malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. However, benign lesions such as cervical polyps, cervical erosion, submucosal myoma, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, urethral caruncle, senile vaginitis, etc. can also cause bloody leucorrhea. Bloody leucorrhea caused by intrauterine contraceptive device is also more common. Doctors should make a clear diagnosis based on different symptoms and perform gynecological examinations, colposcopy and other examinations according to the specific situation. If there is a disease, active treatment should be given. Generally, after microwave treatment, you should avoid sexual intercourse within one month and pay attention to vulvar hygiene to prevent infection.

Unmarried women should first pay attention to personal hygiene. At the same time, they should seek medical treatment in time, find out the cause of the disease under the guidance of a doctor, and make timely causal treatment and treatment to achieve early detection, early prevention, early treatment, and early recovery. Never blindly abuse drugs.
