How effective is acupuncture in treating premature ovarian failure?

Many women find that there is something wrong with their bodies, especially when they find that they have not had their menstruation. They need to go to the hospital for treatment in time, because many diseases can easily cause this situation, such as premature ovarian failure. So when facing premature ovarian failure, can we choose acupoint treatment?

First of all, according to the dialectical classification of premature ovarian failure in traditional Chinese medicine, acupoints can be selected according to the type to treat this disease, which is divided into the following categories: 1. Kidney Yang Deficiency Type: Patients with this type of premature ovarian failure have common symptoms after the onset of the disease, including cold body and limbs, fatigue, weakness in waist and knees, etc.

2. Kidney Yin deficiency type: This type of premature ovarian failure is often accompanied by symptoms including dizziness, tinnitus, weakness in waist and knees, etc.

3. Qi stagnation type: Patients with this type of premature ovarian failure have common symptoms including depression, irritability, chest and flank distension, etc.

According to the type of premature ovarian failure of the patient, TCM acupuncture treatment methods:

1. For patients with premature ovarian failure of kidney yang deficiency type, acupuncture treatment is performed on ten acupoints: Pishu, Guanyuan, Qihai, Zhongji, Shenshu, Zhongwan, Zusanli, Yinlingquan, Sanyinjiao, and Taixi.

2. For kidney yin deficiency type, the nine acupoints of Shenshu, Qihai, Ganshu, Guanyuan, Zhongji, Zusanli, Shenshu, Qihai, Taixi, Taichong and Guilai are selected.

3. For patients with stagnation-type premature ovarian failure, treatment requires the use of nine acupoints: Ganshu, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, Pishu, Zhongwan, Taichong, Qihai, Guanyuan, and Zhongji.

Specific acupuncture operation: use 0.135mm×25~40mm filiform needles, and use the direct puncture method for each acupoint. The liver and kidney points are punctured with 20mm, and the Qihai, Guanyuan, and Zhongji points are punctured with 40mm. The acupuncture points on the limbs all use conventional needling depths. At the same time, tonification and drainage techniques are also required. Patients with liver and kidney yin deficiency type need to undergo equal tonification and drainage, patients with liver qi stagnation type can mainly use drainage method, and patients with spleen and kidney yang deficiency type mainly use tonification method. Use once a day for 10-15 consecutive days as a course of treatment. Rest for 2-3 days between courses. Evaluate the efficacy after 6 courses of treatment.
