How long does it take for an egg to be fertilized?

Some couples who want to conceive want to know more about conception. Today I will talk to you about how long it takes for the egg to be fertilized. Generally speaking, the survival time of an egg is less than 24 hours, and during this 24 hours, it needs sperm to fertilize the egg.

Generally, the blastocyst begins to implant 6-7 days after fertilization. The implantation site is mostly in the upper 1/3 of the uterus. Complete implantation means that the embryo has been placed, the placenta has begun to form, and the fetus has begun to be nurtured.

First, the sperm and egg with fertilization ability meet in the ampulla of the fallopian tube and prepare for fertilization here. The ovary releases an egg that can fertilize for about 12 to 24 hours. If it fails to meet the sperm and achieve fertilization during this period, it will gradually degenerate and die and be absorbed or excreted from the body.

During normal sexual intercourse, a man discharges about 200 to 400 million sperm each time; however, most of the sperm are discharged from the vagina along with the semen. The uterine contraction and fallopian tube peristalsis caused by sexual intercourse accelerate the movement of sperm. It takes only a few minutes for sperm to reach the fallopian tube from the vagina, and the fastest time is 4-6 hours, and the latest is 1-1.5 hours. The whole journey takes about a week until it reaches the destination.

After the egg is fertilized, it moves toward the uterus while developing, reaching the uterine cavity after 3-4 days, and is buried in the nutrient-rich endometrium after 6-8 days, and then continues to develop into a fetus.

Precautions for the combination of sperm and egg: Although knowing how long it takes for sperm and egg to combine will be more helpful for conception, you should also pay attention to some precautions during this period. Female friends should master their ovulation time. It is best not to have sex 5 days before ovulation to ensure that the number of sperm is sufficient for ovulation. You can have sex on the day of ovulation, and the best time is between 5 and 7 pm. You can still have sexual intercourse 3 days after ovulation and there is still a possibility of pregnancy.

If a couple wants to have a baby, knowing how long it takes for sperm and egg to combine, as well as the activity cycles of egg and sperm, will be more helpful for conception.
