How to treat endometrioma? Surgery

Endometrioma is also a type of endometrial tumor and one of the most common tumors in women. There are also many women who don’t know what to do with endometrioma. In this case, surgical treatment is very important. At the same time, we should also pay attention to some causes of endometrioma, such as high blood pressure.

1. Treatment of endometrioma

Surgical treatment is the preferred method, and the scope of surgery is determined based on the clinical stage. If there are tumor cells in the ascites and lymph node metastasis is suspected or already present, radiotherapy should be added after surgery. Progestin treatment can be used for patients with advanced tumors or recurrent tumors that cannot be surgically removed, or for young patients who wish to preserve their fertility in the early stages of their pregnancy. Various synthetic progestins such as medroxyprogesterone acetate, progesterone caproate, and medroxyprogesterone acetate can be used. The dosage should be large, such as medroxyprogesterone acetate 200-400 mg/d, twice a week, and it should be used for at least 10-12 weeks to evaluate whether it is effective.

2. Symptoms of endometrioma

(1) Vaginal bleeding is irregular vaginal bleeding, the amount is usually not much, and heavy bleeding is rare. Postmenopausal patients experience continuous or intermittent bleeding, while those who have not yet reached menopause experience heavier menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual periods, or intermenstrual bleeding.

(2) Vaginal discharge: Some patients complain of increased vaginal discharge. In the early stages, it is mostly serous or serous-bloody. In the late stages, if there is infection, there is purulent or purulent-bloody discharge with a foul odor.

3. Causes of Endometrioma

(1) Irregular menstruation. Patients with endometrial cancer are three times more likely to have irregular menstruation and heavy menstruation than women with normal periods.

(2) Early menarche and late menopause. The incidence of endometrial cancer is 60% higher in women who have their first menstruation before the age of 12 than in those who have their first menstruation after the age of 12.

(3) Number of pregnancies and births. Endometrial tumors are more common in women who have multiple births, nulliparity, or infertility.
