Most women have a week every month when they have menstrual blood, which is what we call "menstruation." However, some women experience bleeding from their lower body even when they are not menstruating. What's going on? 1. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding This is uterine bleeding caused by abnormalities in the neuroendocrine mechanisms that regulate reproduction. Usually, there are no organic lesions in the whole body and internal and external reproductive organs. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding should be considered first when vaginal bleeding occurs in adolescent women. It is affected by congenital development and acquired environmental factors, resulting in menstrual disorders. Vaginal bleeding in women of childbearing age may be ovulation bleeding. Ovulation bleeding is caused by a temporary drop in female estrogen levels, which causes the endometrium to lose hormonal support and some endometrium to fall off, resulting in regular vaginal bleeding. There is no need to worry too much about this situation. If there is heavy bleeding, you should go to the hospital for relevant treatment. 2. Bleeding caused by gynecological diseases Abnormal vaginal bleeding in women of childbearing age may be related to other gynecological diseases. Ectopic pregnancy, endometritis, chronic myometritis, endometriosis, etc. can cause abnormal vaginal bleeding. Cervical erosion and cervical polyps can also cause small amounts of local bleeding. 3. Bleeding caused by tumor Both benign and malignant tumors can cause abnormal vaginal bleeding. The most common benign tumor is uterine fibroids. This type of lesion can cause bleeding but is painless, so it is often ignored by patients as heavy menstrual flow or irregular menstruation. Seek medical attention only when the lesion becomes larger and heavy bleeding occurs. Malignant tumors are common in cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, choriocarcinoma, etc. This is due to the enlargement of tumor tissue, local tissue necrosis and shedding causing bleeding, or invasion of larger blood vessels causing bleeding. Malignant tumors cause a large amount of bleeding, and most of the bleeding is already in the late stage when it is discovered. 4. Bleeding caused by contraceptive measures Oral contraceptives, IUDs, and tubal ligation can also cause vaginal bleeding. For example, oral contraceptives can cause unstable hormone levels in the body, leading to irregular bleeding and prolonged menstruation. After the placement of the IUD, the activity of fibrinolytic enzymes may increase, leading to fibrinolysis and causing increased menstrual bleeding or irregular bleeding. Here, female friends should be reminded that if they find abnormal bleeding or contact bleeding, they must pay attention to it, especially if the bleeding is irregular, continuous, and the amount of bleeding varies. This may be an alarm for cervical lesions, early malignant tumors, and other gynecological diseases. |
