Female lumbar muscle strain, also known as functional low back pain, chronic low back injury, lumbogluteal muscle fasciitis, etc., is actually a chronic damaging inflammation of the lumbar muscles and the fascia or periosteum of their attachment points. It is one of the common causes of low back pain. The main symptoms are swelling and soreness in the waist or lumbosacral area, which recur repeatedly. The pain may vary with climate change or the degree of fatigue. For example, it may be aggravated by daytime fatigue and relieved after rest. It is a common clinical disease, a frequently-occurring disease, and has many causative factors.

Weight-bearing activities:

When the torso is carrying weight, the lower the position, the greater the weight, so the force on the waist is the greatest and most concentrated. The stability of the trunk mainly lies in the spine. When the spinal structure is unstable, the waist and back muscles that play an auxiliary stabilizing role will work overloaded in order to stabilize the trunk. If this continues for a long time, the muscles will produce compensatory hypertrophy and hyperplasia.

Poor sitting posture:

For people who work in a bent-over position for a long time, the waist muscles are constantly tense, which puts pressure on small blood vessels, resulting in insufficient oxygen supply and accumulation of metabolic products, which irritate the local area and cause damaging inflammation. If a group of muscles suffers from this kind of chronic strain, the corresponding muscles will inevitably undergo adaptive changes to compensate for the functional impairment caused by the lesions in the affected area, which is called corresponding compensatory adjustment. If the muscles at the primary lesion site still cannot maintain normal function after corresponding compensatory adjustments, the upper, lower or opposite muscles can be re-compensated, which is called series compensatory adjustments. The above changes are clinically manifested as low back pain in one area that can develop upward, downward or to the opposite side over time. Some patients may also develop chronic lumbar muscle strain due to improper treatment of acute lumbar trauma.

Climate and environmental conditions:

Chronic lumbar muscle strain is also related to climatic and environmental conditions. Too low temperature or too high humidity can trigger or aggravate lumbar muscle strain.

Climate change is also one of the causes of lumbar muscle strain in women. So we should pay attention to this in our daily life. There is another reason that causes lumbar muscle strain in women, which is also very important, that is long-term poor sitting posture. As mentioned above, long-term bad sitting posture will deform your body shape, cause your waist to bend, and eventually cause serious lumbar muscle strain, affecting your work and life.
