As people's quality of life improves, more and more people have higher requirements for sex life. Among the many contraceptive methods, in addition to the condoms and birth control pills we are familiar with, there is another common contraceptive method, which is safe period contraception. The safe period refers to the time in a month when a woman does not ovulate. During this period, there are no eggs in the woman's body, so fertilization is often impossible. So, what is the normal ovulation temperature chart? The basal body temperature of normal women of childbearing age changes cyclically, just like the menstrual cycle, and this temperature change is related to ovulation. The female menstrual cycle begins on the first day of menstrual bleeding. The length of the cycle varies from person to person, ranging from about 21-35 days, with an average of about 28 days. It is divided into the follicular phase before ovulation and the luteal phase after ovulation based on the ovulation day. The length of the follicular phase is not fixed, but the luteal phase is about 14 days, plus or minus two days. The day after ovulation, the corpus luteum is formed in the ovary and the secretion of progesterone will cause the body temperature to rise by about 0.6 degrees Celsius, causing the body temperature to fluctuate between high and low phases. The high temperature period lasts about 12-16 days (14 days on average). 1. If there is no pregnancy, the corpus luteum shrinks and stops secreting progesterone, the body temperature drops, returns to the baseline, and menstruation occurs. 2. If you are already pregnant, the corpus luteum will continue to secrete progesterone because it is supported by the hormones secreted by the embryo, and your body temperature will remain high. 3. If the ovaries function poorly, there is no ovulation and no corpus luteum is formed, the body temperature will remain low. How to determine pregnancy through the basal body temperature method? The basal body temperature usually rises with ovulation. In the first half of the menstrual cycle, the body temperature fluctuates below 36.6 degrees. After ovulation, it enters the second half of the menstrual cycle. The body temperature is higher than the first half and fluctuates between 36.6 degrees and 37 degrees. The rise in body temperature indicates ovulation. After a high temperature period lasting about two weeks, the body temperature drops again, and then it is the turn of the monthly menstruation period. If you are pregnant, your basal body temperature will not drop but remain at a high temperature. The reason why your body temperature remains high is that the amount of hormones secreted by the ovaries increases after pregnancy. It can be seen from this that as long as sexual intercourse occurs during the safe period, it can generally be effective in preventing pregnancy. However, this method is not effective for all women. Due to many factors, women's monthly menstruation is often not so regular. In this case, the failure rate of safe period contraception is relatively high. Therefore, the editor recommends that it is more appropriate to use other methods of contraception. |
