Causes of breast tenderness and lower abdominal pain during menstruation

Women will feel very troubled and uncomfortable when their menstruation comes. What is even more troublesome for women is that many women will feel some swelling and pain in their breasts after their menstruation. For women, it is very important to prevent some breast diseases. If you find that you have any abnormal conditions, you must seek treatment in time. However, breast pain during menstruation may be different from ordinary diseases.

In fact, you may feel breast pain before your period, and sometimes you can even feel a painful lump. This is because the breast glands, like the endometrium, will also undergo changes in the premenstrual proliferative phase and postmenstrual recovery phase as the menstrual cycle changes.

The premenstrual proliferative period is 7-10 days before menstruation. At this time, due to the increase in androgen and progesterone concentrations, hyperfunction of antidiuretic hormone, and increased aldosterone secretion, the mammary ducts dilate, the epithelial cells proliferate and hypertrophy, and the matrix around the mammary ducts edema, causing compression symptoms and pain. At the same time, the immature fibers of the breast increase, lymphocytes infiltrate, and the breasts enlarge, and you will feel distension, pain and discomfort. The menstrual recovery period refers to the period after the onset of menstruation, when the secretion of estrogen, progesterone and antidiuretic hormone in the body decreases, the milk ducts become smaller, the epithelial cells atrophy, the immature breast fibers decrease, and the symptoms of breast tenderness disappear.

It can be said that if you feel breast pain before your period, it reminds you that your period is about to come. Some people compare the period before menstruation to "high tide", and the breasts will feel swollen and painful. It is appropriate that after menstruation, there is a "ebb" and the breast tenderness and pain will decrease or disappear.

Therefore, breast pain before menstruation is a normal physiological phenomenon. Women who experience this phenomenon do not need to worry, have too many concerns, or carry a heavy mental burden. Women’s emotions can easily cause hormones in the body and cause breast diseases, so if this happens before menstruation, it should be treated correctly.

In order to avoid breast pain before menstruation, it is recommended that women eat a lighter diet when their period is about to come, or use hot compresses to relieve the symptoms of breast pain. When women feel breast pain, they can use a hot towel to apply to their chest, take more vitamin C, or massage themselves, which can effectively relieve the feeling of breast pain.
