What should I do if I have vaginal bleeding during menopause?

After menopause, many women will find obvious changes in various parts of their body and skills, which are no longer in their usual state. Such changes make many women very worried. They are always worried that such changes will cause great damage to the body, especially symptoms such as menopausal vaginal bleeding. So how should we view such symptoms? Let’s talk briefly about this issue today.

After menopause, women's secretory functions generally weaken, their reproductive organs shrink, their ovaries shrink, become hard, and their surfaces become smooth, and their vaginal mucosa becomes thinner and loses elasticity. These are all normal physiological phenomena, but some women experience vaginal bleeding after a period of normal menopause. The reasons are mostly the following:

1. After menopause, the endometrium shrinks due to lack of support from estrogen secreted by the ovaries. However, for some women, the endometrium is still stimulated by a small amount of estrogen secreted by the adrenal glands after menopause, causing the endometrium to grow and cause uterine bleeding. This situation can be finally confirmed through diagnostic curettage.

2. Some women usually suffer from severe cervical erosion and cervical polyps, so bleeding may be induced after sexual intercourse.

3. Senile vaginitis

The main characteristics are excessive vaginal discharge, bloody discharge and odor. It is mainly due to the decline of ovarian function and low estrogen levels, which cause the disappearance of glycogen in the vaginal epithelium, reduced vaginal secretions, and alkaline properties, which weaken women's vaginal resistance and eventually cause infection and lead to senile vaginal. If a gynecological internal examination is performed, it can be found that the vaginal mucosa has atrophied and thinned, and scattered bleeding spots and surface ulcers can be seen on the vaginal mucosa.

4. Endometritis

The main clinical manifestations are increased leucorrhea and a small amount of bleeding. The endometrium of postmenopausal women shrinks and becomes thinner due to the loss of the effect of estrogen, the surface epithelium flakes off, and the cervical endometrium becomes inflamed. If a gynecological examination is performed, an enlarged and tender uterus may be found, sometimes accompanied by fever.

5. Cervical cancer

The main clinical manifestations are contact bleeding, bloody leucorrhea and irregular vaginal bleeding.

6. Endometrial cancer

The clinical manifestations are irregular vaginal bleeding of small or moderate amounts or bloody leucorrhea before and after menopause. Gynecological examination: The uterus did not shrink, but was full and hard, and there were no abnormal changes in the cervix.

Many female friends who have read this article may have an understanding of menopausal vaginal bleeding. In fact, this phenomenon is a normal physiological phenomenon. If it is serious, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment, follow the doctor's advice, choose the appropriate method and maintain a good attitude towards the problem.
