What should I do if the fetus is in an abnormal position at eight months of pregnancy?

Many female friends will find that the fetus is in an abnormal position during prenatal check-ups in the late pregnancy. Malposition of the fetus will not only bring some difficulties to normal delivery, but sometimes even affect the normal development of the fetus in the body. It is best to correct it through some exercises in daily life. The following editor will introduce how to correct malposition of the fetus when pregnant for 8 months.

Whether the fetal position is normal or not is directly related to whether the delivery is smooth.

Use moxa rolls to moxibustion the "Zhiyin Point": This method can be done at the same time as the chest-knee lying position. Pregnant women can do it themselves or with the help of family members, using the burning moxa roll to fumigate the Yin acupoint (i.e. the outer edge of the little toes on both sides), twice a day, each time for about 10 minutes.

Lateral position: This method can be used for transverse position or occipital position. When lying on your side, you can also gently stroke your abdominal wall in the direction of your side, twice a day, each time for 15-20 minutes. You can also pay attention to your side-lying posture during sleep.

Chest-knee position: This method is generally used after 30 weeks of pregnancy when the fetus is still in breech or transverse position. Pregnant women should do it before meals or 2 hours after meals, or when they wake up in the morning and before going to bed at night. Beforehand, the bladder should be emptied and the belt should be untied. The pregnant woman should kneel on the bed with her knees slightly apart (shoulder-width apart), with her knees at right angles, her chest and shoulders pressed against the bed, her head tilted to one side, and her hands hanging down on both sides of the bed or placed on both sides of the head, forming a position with high hips and low head. The greater the height difference between the two, the better, so that the fetal head can be placed on the mother's diaphragm and the fetal position can be corrected by changing the center of gravity.

How should expectant mothers deal with malposition of the fetus

About 3 percent of expectant mothers may find themselves in a "breech presentation" at nine months of pregnancy, which is generally known as a "sitting fetus". A sitting fetus may cause difficulties in fetal delivery, birth injuries to the mother, the fetus may be deformed, the uterus may have fibroids or be deformed itself. Therefore, once a "sitting fetus" is discovered - an abnormal fetal position, the mother must discuss with the doctor which delivery method is the best option.

The incidence of "malposition of the fetus" varies in different weeks of pregnancy. For example, at five months of pregnancy, about 33% of fetal positions are malposition, while at eight months, only about 8.8% are malposition of the fetus. At nine months of pregnancy, only about 5% are malposition of the fetus. This means that about 90% of malposition of the fetus will automatically turn into a normal head-down birth position.

For women in the late stages of pregnancy, it is best to stick to some moderate exercise, such as maternal yoga. This is not only helpful for normal delivery, but also beneficial for the development of the fetus and their own postpartum recovery. At the same time, they should maintain a balanced nutrition and try to diversify their diet.
