The difference between cervical biopsy and TCT

Many female friends suspect that they have gynecological diseases, but are unwilling to go to the hospital for examination. In fact, they should take the initiative to go to the hospital for a gynecological examination to confirm the symptoms and facilitate treatment. There are many types of gynecological examinations, and female friends should have a certain understanding of this matter. Today, let me share with you the difference between cervical puncture biopsy and TCT!

1. The types of sampling are different. The cervical puncture biopsy takes tissue from the abnormal diseased area, while the TCT examination takes somatic cells. One is tissue and the other is somatic cells. The former is an invasive test, while the latter is a minimally invasive surgical test.

2. The sampling sites are different. Cervical biopsy requires taking tissue from several locations in the abnormal diseased area for biopsy, while TCT examination only requires taking some cells from the junction of the cervical squamous epithelium and the cervical columnar epithelium for examination.

3. The purpose of sampling is different. TCT examination is a screening test for cervical cancer. It is simple, less invasive and easy to accept. Cervical puncture biopsy is the third step of examination that is done only when cervical cancer is highly suspected, and its purpose is to diagnose cervical cancer.

4. The influence on diagnostics is different. Although TCT examination is relatively convenient and does not cause serious trauma, the sample size is too small and it can only be used as a basic screening method for cervical cancer. Cervical puncture biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosing cervical cancer. Compared with TCT examination, cervical puncture biopsy is more credible and has a higher degree of authenticity.

There is a difference between cervical puncture biopsy and TCT. Cervical puncture biopsy is a pathological examination, that is, a histological examination. The TCT test is a liquid-based cytology test, which is a cytology test, so these two tests are different.

Cervical puncture biopsy is a pathological examination. It is the most accurate and is also the gold standard for diagnosis. Due to the influence of sampling and the technical strength of the doctors in the laboratory, the results of TCT inspection are sometimes different. Therefore, the inaccuracy is very high and the accuracy can only reach 60%~70%. Therefore, in many cases, misdiagnosis may occur due to inaccurate sampling.
