Causes of abdominal pain after cesarean section

When giving birth, there are two ways to choose from, one is natural birth, and the other is to go into the operating room for a caesarean section. Nowadays, more people choose caesarean section because during a caesarean section, the baby will not be born in a life-and-death situation. However, after the operation, there will be pain in the wound. Some people feel pain when pressing their lower abdomen a long time after the operation. What causes it?

Most new mothers will experience uterine contraction pain after giving birth, which is the so-called "postpartum pain". The principle of postpartum pain is the same as uterine labor pain during childbirth, which is caused by intermittent contractions of the uterus. The purpose of postpartum uterine contraction is to help stop uterine bleeding and expel residual blood clots inside the uterus to promote uterine recovery, which has positive significance.

Generally, after a cesarean section, the doctor will help massage the uterus. At this time, the pain due to uterine contraction is often unbearable. This is a normal phenomenon and generally does not require special treatment. The pain will disappear on its own after 3-4 days. If the new mother feels severe pain, she can apply hot compress on the lower abdomen, or take some Chinese patent medicine such as Chanfukang Granules, Motherwort Granules, etc. It should be pointed out that painkillers are not very effective for postpartum uterine contraction pain.

In addition, after undergoing a cesarean section, the new mother should not lie flat on her back. This is because the effect of the anesthetic will disappear and the new mother will feel pain in the wound. The flat position is most sensitive to uterine contraction pain, so she should lie on her side with the body at a 20-30 degree angle to the bed, and put a quilt or blanket behind her to reduce the vibration and pulling pain of the incision when the body moves.

Although there is pain when pressing the lower abdomen, it may be that the uterus is contracting. What we need to pay attention to after delivery is to rest more and drink more brown sugar water to help the body to discharge more lochia. Only in this way can we recover faster.
