How is breast reduction surgery performed?

Flat breasts always make women particularly troubled, so many women are scrambling to get breast augmentation surgery so that they can have proud breasts. However, for women with overly full breasts, it is not a glory but a burden. After all, having breasts that are too big may cause a lot of trouble in life. Therefore, perhaps because of inferiority complex and for their own health, many women with particularly full breasts will choose to undergo breast reduction surgery.

Breast reduction surgery is the surgical reduction of the breast size. It is reported that in Ontario, Canada alone, about 6,000 women undergo breast reduction surgery each year, and on average, hundreds of grams of connective tissue, fat, breast implants and other materials are removed from each breast. Some sexy stars in the film and television industry who are famous for their towering breasts have also undergone surgery to remove breast augmentation materials and reduce their bust size.

Before surgery, the doctor and patient need to decide the future position of the areola and nipple (mostly higher than the original position). After surgery, patients usually need several weeks to recover. However, it still takes six months to a year for the patient's body to fully adjust to the new breast size.

Because of the breast reduction, some patients may experience discomfort during their first menstrual period after surgery.

Preoperative considerations

1. Do not take drugs containing aspirin within two weeks before surgery, because aspirin can reduce platelet coagulation function;

2. You must truthfully inform your health status during the initial consultation so that the surgeon can confirm the surgical plan;

3. Surgery is not recommended during menstruation, pregnancy, or breastfeeding for 6 months;

4. Smokers should quit smoking one week before the operation.

Nursing care is very important during the recovery process at home after breast reduction surgery. When you sleep every day, you must lie flat on your back, and never lie on your side. This will help your body recover. Don't do strenuous exercise in your daily life, otherwise if the wound starts bleeding, it will be a disaster. On the first day after the operation, you must carefully observe the condition of the nipple. If you find any abnormalities, you must go to the hospital in time.
