Is it normal to have bloody vaginal discharge during late pregnancy?

There will be no menstruation during pregnancy, which is something that most people know. However, some pregnant women find that there is some blood in their leucorrhea in the late pregnancy. Why is this? Does the blood in the leucorrhea in the late pregnancy indicate that the pregnant woman's body has suffered some kind of damage during pregnancy?

As the saying goes, "Nine out of ten women have vaginal discharge," which means that vaginal discharge is a physiological phenomenon unique to women. Leucorrhea is a small amount of mucous substance that is often secreted from the vagina of women. It is like white, translucent egg white and is odorless and non-irritating. Some people regard leucorrhea as an obscene thing that should not be seen in public, while some married women regard normal leucorrhea as a disease and feel anxious. In fact, leucorrhea, like menstruation, is a normal physiological manifestation of women. It reflects the quality of women's physical health and is also a sign of certain gynecological diseases. In a sense, leucorrhea is also a "natural barrier" for women's health. To evaluate whether leucorrhea is normal, it is necessary to observe the quantity, color, texture and smell. Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell; its secretion amount and texture are affected by the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body, and vary cyclically with the menstrual cycle, with varying amounts, textures and thicknesses. Generally, the amount of leucorrhea is less after the menstrual period; before ovulation, the increase in estrogen levels in the body promotes the proliferation of epithelial cells of the cervical glands, the secretion of cervical mucus increases, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus increases, which can absorb more water, causing the leucorrhea to increase during ovulation, and the texture is thin, clear, and looks like egg white, which can be stretched into long threads; after ovulation, estrogen levels gradually decrease, progesterone levels increase, the secretion of cervical mucus is inhibited, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus also decreases, making the leucorrhea at this time thick, milky white, with poor ductility, and easy to break when drawn. In addition, there are also some physiological phenomena such as pregnancy and oral contraceptives, which can cause an increase in vaginal discharge. The cause is also related to changes in estrogen and progesterone levels in the body.

If your vaginal discharge increases for no apparent reason, or is accompanied by changes in color, texture, or odor, you should be alert. Common causes of increased vaginal discharge include:

① In case of candidal vaginitis, the leucorrhea is yellow or white, and most of the time it is thick, but sometimes it can be thin, and the typical leucorrhea is like tofu dregs or curds; ② In case of trichomonas vaginitis, the leucorrhea is thin pus-like, yellow, with foam, or like rice water, grayish white, and smelly;

③When the cervix is eroded, the leucorrhea is usually yellow, sticky like pus, and odorless;

④ The leucorrhea of gonorrhea is yellow pus-like;

(5) When suffering from pelvic inflammatory diseases such as endometritis, leucorrhea will increase, become yellow in color, and thin in texture, often accompanied by abdominal pain;

(6) When suffering from fallopian tube cancer, the tumor stimulates the fallopian tube epithelium to exude fluid and the diseased tissue to necrotize, resulting in continuous watery leucorrhea.

If there is blood in the leucorrhea in the late pregnancy, pregnant women must keep their mood stable. Due to different physical constitutions, some pregnant women may experience mild incontinence. As long as we pay attention to diet and rest, there will be no big problems, so don't worry.
