Can I still get pregnant after a second ectopic pregnancy?

After a man and a woman form a family, they hope to have a baby. However, things do not always go as planned. In modern society, many bad habits, unhealthy diets and lifestyles have brought troubles to people, and it is even difficult to pass on the family line. It is a luxury to have a baby. Today we are talking about a rather heavy topic. Regarding the issue of women being unable to have children or get pregnant, it is said that a woman who does not have children is like a hen that does not lay eggs. It sounds so harsh, but the reality is that in society many women really cannot lay eggs, not that they cannot get pregnant or have children. In fact, many women cannot have children because of ectopic pregnancy. Especially after a second ectopic pregnancy, women will lose confidence. So, can you still get pregnant after a second ectopic pregnancy? Let's find out.

Let us first understand ectopic pregnancy: an abnormal pregnancy process in which the fertilized egg implants and develops outside the uterine cavity. Also called "ectopic pregnancy". The most common type of pregnancy is tubal pregnancy. The cause of the disease is often due to inflammation in the fallopian tube lumen or its surroundings, which causes poor patency of the lumen, hindering the normal operation of the fertilized egg, causing it to stay, implant, and develop in the fallopian tube, leading to miscarriage or rupture of the fallopian tube pregnancy.

Causes of ectopic pregnancy

1. Chronic salpingitis

Chronic salpingitis can cause adhesions in the mucosal folds of the fallopian tube, leading to stenosis of the lumen, mucosal destruction, loss of epithelial cilia, adhesions around the fallopian tube, and distortion of the tube. The above conditions affect the normal operation and passage of the fertilized egg in the fallopian tube and are the main cause of tubal pregnancy.

2. Fertilized eggs travel abroad

After the fertilized egg is fertilized in one fallopian tube, it can swim along the umbrella end to the opposite fallopian tube. Due to the extension of time, it has the ability to implant before it reaches the uterine cavity, thus forming an ectopic pregnancy.

3. Pelvic tumors

Pelvic tumors compress or pull on the fallopian tubes, causing them to shift or deform, blocking the passage of the fertilized egg. This is also the cause of ectopic pregnancy and the cause of the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy.

4. Hypoplasia of the fallopian tube

Abnormal fallopian tube development or function Abnormal fallopian tube development such as excessively long fallopian tubes, hypoplastic myometrium, absence of mucociliary tissue, double fallopian tubes, and extra fimbria can all be the cause of tubal pregnancy. The physiological functions of the fallopian tube are complex. The peristalsis of the fallopian tube wall, ciliary activity and secretion of epithelial cells are all regulated by estrogen and progesterone. If the balance between the two hormones is disturbed, it will affect the transport of the fertilized egg and cause fallopian tube pregnancy.

Prevention of ectopic pregnancy;

1. Pregnancy and correct contraception: Choose a time when both parties are in a good mood and physical condition to get pregnant. If you are not considering becoming a mother for the time being, you must take good contraceptive measures. Good contraception fundamentally prevents the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy.

2. Timely treatment of reproductive system diseases: Inflammation is the main culprit for fallopian tube stenosis. Intrauterine operations such as artificial abortion increase the chance of inflammation and endometrium entering the fallopian tube, which in turn leads to adhesion and stenosis of the fallopian tube, increasing the possibility of ectopic pregnancy. Reproductive system diseases such as uterine fibroids and endometriosis may also change the morphology and function of the fallopian tubes. Timely treatment of these diseases can reduce the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy.

3. Try in vitro fertilization: If you have had an ectopic pregnancy before, the possibility of another ectopic pregnancy is enough to destroy a woman's confidence in being a mother. The temptation of a healthy baby is certainly worth a woman's risk, but science also provides more help for women, such as the option of in vitro fertilization. After the sperm and egg successfully "get married" in vitro, the fertilized egg can be sent back to the mother's uterus for safe development.

4. Pay attention to hygiene during menstruation, delivery and postpartum period to prevent infection of the reproductive system. If the disease has already occurred, you should go to the hospital in time for infusion and blood transfusion, and undergo laparotomy immediately.

5. Maintain a good lifestyle and do not smoke or drink. Nicotine and alcohol have adverse effects on pregnant women and fetuses.

So don't worry, it is possible to get pregnant with an extrauterine pregnancy for the second time, as long as you pay attention to regular check-ups, or try other methods to conceive. It is recommended that patients suspected of ectopic pregnancy be admitted to the hospital for observation, rest in bed as much as possible, reduce activity, eat a light diet, protect their urination and defecation, and do a good job in ideological work for them, explain the knowledge about ectopic pregnancy to them, and help them build confidence in overcoming the disease.
