Why do breasts hurt during early pregnancy?

Women experience breast pain during pregnancy, which causes many women to worry whether they have breast diseases. It is normal for most women to experience breast pain during lactation, but they need to pay attention to check to avoid the problem caused by breast diseases. So why do breasts swell and hurt in early pregnancy?

1. Breast pain after artificial abortion

After an abortion, some women complain of breast tenderness and a palpable lump. This is because the pregnancy is suddenly interrupted, and the hormone level in the body drops suddenly, causing the changes in the breasts to suddenly stop, resulting in breast lumps and breast pain.

2. Breast pain during the premenstrual period

Many women experience breast fullness, hardness, and tenderness before menstruation. In severe cases, the breasts may become swollen and painful even with slight vibration or collision. This is caused by increased estrogen levels in the body before menstruation, breast hyperplasia, and tissue edema. The above changes may disappear after menstruation.

3. Breast pain after sex

This is related to the physiological changes in the breasts during sexual intercourse. People with low libido or disharmonious sex life cannot achieve sexual satisfaction, so breast congestion and swelling are not easy to subside, or they subside incompletely. Continuous congestion will cause breast pain.

4. Breast pain during lactation

Some women experience breast pain around day 40 of pregnancy due to the placenta and villi secreting large amounts of estrogen, progesterone and prolactin, which causes the mammary glands to enlarge and the pain can last throughout the pregnancy.

5. Postpartum breast pain

Breast swelling, induration and pain often occur 3-7 days after delivery, which is mainly caused by mammary lymph retention, venous congestion, interstitial edema and obstructed mammary ducts.

6. Breast pain during puberty

The earliest breast pain in girls usually occurs between the ages of 9 and 13. At this time, the girl's breasts begin to develop and there will be a slight feeling of pain. After menarche, the swelling and pain will disappear on its own as the breasts mature.

If the above-mentioned breast pain occurs during lactation, you can take some massage and diet methods to relieve the pain. Be careful not to take medication without authorization as it may affect the development of the fetus. If the problem is serious, you can consult a doctor for appropriate examinations. During this period, women should avoid drinking alcohol and eating spicy foods.
