Consequences of low progesterone

Consequences of low progesterone

Women all know that my progesterone value is very important during pregnancy. Progesterone is a hormone in our body. If the progesterone value is normal, you can get pregnant. During pregnancy, the progesterone value must be maintained. Otherwise, if the progesterone value is abnormal during pregnancy, it may affect the fetus. The impact of abnormal progesterone value during pregnancy is very large. Many women want to understand the consequences of low progesterone value. Let's take a look:

Consequences of low progesterone

In real life, many female friends suffer miscarriage due to low progesterone levels. This is a natural miscarriage. Once the progesterone level in your body is adjusted to normal, it will not affect your pregnancy. The consequences of low progesterone are serious, and female friends can do more related examinations during pregnancy.

This situation is often seen in clinical practice: bleeding during pregnancy, ultrasound examination is normal, but the result of blood drawing is often "low progesterone". Seeing such results, many doctors will prescribe pregnancy-preserving drugs or injections to patients because of "low progesterone." I understand why the doctor did this, because the report already showed "low progesterone". If the patient had a miscarriage, she would hold the doctor responsible for not giving her pregnancy-preserving treatment...

It is best to wait for half a year before getting pregnant after a miscarriage so that the uterus can recover and there will be a good environment for the baby to grow. Progesterone is a natural progestogen secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovary. If the menstrual cycle is too short and there is heavy bleeding before menstruation, it is generally necessary to measure the basal body temperature to determine whether it is luteal insufficiency. If the luteal phase is shorter than 12 days, or the body temperature rises slowly and drops early, the increase is less than 0.5℃, or the body temperature fluctuates greatly during the luteal phase, it is all signs of luteal insufficiency, but it needs to be measured for three consecutive menstrual cycles before it can be determined. Poor embryonic development is not necessarily caused by low progesterone. It is recommended that you do not use too cold water, as washing things with cold water will also affect progesterone. If you become pregnant after a miscarriage, you should go to the hospital early to measure the progesterone level.

Why do this? Bleeding in early pregnancy is a very common phenomenon and reminds us to pay attention to checking the adverse consequences of pregnancy. However, due to the instability of progesterone and different inspection methods, deviations in inspection results often occur, so the combined inspection method of progesterone and HCG is used. If only the progesterone is low and the HCG is normal, it is mostly an inspection error and should be repeated or based on the HCG result. The doctor should also carefully inquire about the patient's menstrual situation, whether there are abnormal conditions such as short menstrual intervals (short cycles) and irregular menstruation, to rule out bleeding and low progesterone caused by problems such as corpus luteum insufficiency. Otherwise, how can a young and normal girl easily have insufficient hormone levels and cause bleeding during pregnancy? The author strongly disagrees with giving pregnancy-preserving drugs lightly. Instead, the cause of the bleeding should be carefully checked. The results of the inspection should be comprehensively analyzed, rather than looking at a certain result as the basis for treatment, because most pregnancy bleeding is caused by abnormal embryos or other reasons, and abnormal hormone levels only account for a small part. Blindly preserving the fetus sometimes affects normal diagnosis and treatment.

The above are the consequences of low progesterone levels for women. If you want to prevent these consequences, you must check in time to see if you have low progesterone levels. If the progesterone level is relatively low, you must use medication in time to improve and regulate it. If necessary, you also need to take progesterone. This drug is very effective in improving the phenomenon of low progesterone levels, and you will also need to take good care in the future.
