Reasons for bloody vaginal discharge when wearing a ring that female friends should know

For modern women, there are many contraceptive measures to choose from. Wearing an IUD is a common contraceptive method that many women choose. However, women will feel a lot of discomfort after wearing the IUD, such as lower limb or back pain, bleeding, bloody vaginal discharge, etc. Well, today we are going to talk about the topic of women who cannot have children and have bloody vaginal discharge with contraceptive IUDs. So, why do women have bloody vaginal discharge with IUDs?

There are generally two reasons why vaginal discharge with blood:

1. The reason why women have blood in their leucorrhea after having an IUD inserted is that while the IUD plays a contraceptive role, it also causes mechanical compression that injures the endometrium and vascular endothelium, releasing a large amount of anticoagulants, making the endometrium prone to bleeding, especially before and after menstruation.

2. If there is blood in the leucorrhea after the IUD is inserted, it may be a mild case of cervical inflammation. Due to congestion of blood vessels, small blood vessels may rupture during sexual intercourse, causing bleeding. Severe cases may be early clinical manifestations of cervical cancer. Therefore, if there is contact bleeding, cervical cytology must be done, and sometimes colposcopy and cervical biopsy are also required.

Things to note after getting the ring:

1. Check regularly. Generally, the first check-up after the placement of the ring is after the first menstruation, the second check-up is within 3-6 months after the placement of the ring, and the third check-up is a review check 12 months after the placement of the ring, and then a review check once a year thereafter.

2. Possible side effects after IUD insertion. If the menstrual volume increases significantly after the IUD is placed, the menstrual period is significantly prolonged, or there is frequent small amount of bleeding, or there is severe lower back pain or abdominal pain, these are all abnormal phenomena and you should go to the hospital for examination.

3. Women should also pay attention to nutritional supplements after having an IUD inserted. Appropriately increase nutrition, especially eat more foods rich in iron, such as lean meat, pork liver, pork kidney, eggs and other foods. You can also eat more soy products, increase vegetables and fresh fruits. Generally, the above dietary conditioning can effectively prevent the physical energy consumption caused by the side effects of IUD.

4. Get adequate rest and avoid excessive physical labor. Generally, you should rest for 1-2 days after the ring is placed. Do not do heavy physical labor within a week to avoid the ring falling off and bleeding. This is the most familiar thing for women to pay attention to after having an IUD inserted.

5. Pay attention to hygiene and avoid infection. After the IUD is placed, the vulva should be washed every day to keep it clean. Do not take a bath in a basin or have sex within 2 weeks to avoid infection.

6. Pay attention to vaginal bleeding and shedding of the ring. If you find that your vaginal bleeding is heavy, more than double the normal menstrual blood volume or the bleeding lasts longer, or the changes in your menstrual cycle are obvious, you should go to the hospital for a check-up.

In fact, the purpose of having an IUD is to make our lives better, but if we do not pay attention to the precautions after having an IUD inserted, it is very likely that a good thing will turn into a bad thing and affect our future life. After having an IUD inserted, some women experience longer menstrual periods, while others experience a small amount of bleeding during their non-menstrual periods, which manifests as bloody vaginal discharge. In this case, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for relevant examinations to find out whether it is due to your own reasons or a problem with the IUD itself, and then treat the symptoms accordingly.
