3. Nonspecific vaginitis. The drug of choice is metronidazole, 500 mg orally twice a day for 7 days. It can also be applied topically, 200 mg each time, inserted into the vagina, with 7 days as a course of treatment. Clindamycin 300 mg, orally, twice a day for 7 days; or 2% clindamycin ointment, vaginally, once a night for 7 days.
