What are the symptoms and treatment of bacterial vaginosis?

Vaginitis has always been a major problem that causes headaches for many women. Not only do they have to endure some physical pain, but the key is that when this disease occurs, it also seriously affects the relationship between couples. Bacterial vaginitis in particular is difficult to treat, recurs repeatedly, and is very annoying. The following editor has sorted out the manifestations of this disease and some methods of treating this disease.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a mixed infection caused by vaginal Gardnerella and some hypoxic bacteria, which leads to an imbalance of the microecological balance in the vagina, causing a syndrome of increased vaginal discharge, fishy leucorrhea, and vulvar itching and burning. It can be divided into Haemophilus vaginitis, Corynebacterium vaginitis, hypoxic bacterial vaginitis, Gardnerella vaginitis, etc. This disease can also be transmitted through sexual contact, and the incidence rate is higher among people with promiscuous sexual relations. A smear examination of the secretions can reveal a large number of pus balls and find the pathogenic bacteria.

1. General treatment

Keep the vulva clean and dry and avoid scratching. Do not eat spicy foods. Change your underwear frequently and wash it with warm water. Do not mix it with other clothes to avoid cross infection.

2. Medication

(1) Metronidazole is currently considered to have reliable therapeutic effects and should be taken twice a day for 7 consecutive days.

(2) Methicillin (clomiphene) is used for 3 days.

(3) Thiamphenicol (Thiamycin) is effective against a variety of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and has a good therapeutic effect on the growth of anaerobic bacteria, so it can also be used.

(4) Cleansing and ampicillin can also be used. In recent years, it has been advocated that no treatment is needed for asymptomatic people.

3. Local therapy

Topical medications can be used for treatment, such as metronidazole suppositories, once a night for 7 consecutive days.

4. Treatment of comorbidities

If other pathogens are detected, use medications targeting those pathogens to avoid the abuse of antibiotics. Pay attention to the medication for systemic conditions, and provide support and immunotherapy at the same time, and pay attention to adverse drug reactions.

5. Partner therapy

Male sex partners are treated at the same time.

When bacterial vaginitis occurs, it is best not to avoid it. Facing it directly is the best policy. Because this disease is contagious, it is best for both husband and wife to receive treatment at the same time to avoid unnecessary infection. While cooperating with the doctor's treatment, you should also pay more attention to yourself and it is also very important to keep yourself clean.
