Reasons for dizziness in pregnant women in the afternoon

After learning that you are pregnant, you should pay special attention to your physical condition. Don’t do things that are not good for yourself. Pay attention to rest, don’t stand or sit for a long time, and rest in bed more. Many pregnant women will feel dizzy in the afternoon, which may be caused by being too tired. So what is the real reason for dizziness in pregnant women in the afternoon?

Specific reasons:

Dizziness and blurred vision in pregnant women are generally caused by the following reasons.

1. Early pregnancy reaction. It appears around 6 weeks after menstruation, accompanied by acidosis, loss of appetite, picky eating, nausea, vomiting, etc., and usually disappears on its own around 12 weeks of pregnancy.

2. Anemia. When anemia is caused by various reasons, the hemoglobin concentration decreases, the oxygen carried by the blood decreases, and the brain tissue is not supplied with enough oxygen, which leads to dizziness and other anemia symptoms. It often occurs in the middle and late stages of pregnancy and should be treated according to the cause and anemia should be corrected as soon as possible.

3. Pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome. Due to the disease, cerebral vasospasm occurs, which affects the local blood oxygen supply and causes dizziness and blurred vision, accompanied by headache, edema, proteinuria, etc. It often occurs in the middle and late stages of pregnancy. Go to the hospital immediately.

Pregnant women with low blood pressure and cerebral ischemia usually faint when they stand up suddenly or take the elevator. In the early and middle stages of pregnancy, due to the formation of the placenta, blood pressure drops to a certain extent, generally 1.33-2.67 kPa lower than usual, which is physiological. For pregnant women with pre-existing hypertension, the drop in blood pressure will be even greater. When blood pressure drops, blood flow to the brain will decrease, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the brain, causing cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, which in turn causes dizziness. This temporary lack of blood supply to the brain will gradually improve as the heart rate increases and the cardiac output increases, and the dizziness will gradually disappear. Generally, it will return to normal by the 7th month of pregnancy. Pregnant women like this need to pay attention to self-protection; do not ride bicycles to avoid falling; once dizziness occurs, they should sit down immediately or lie down to prevent the dizziness from worsening; avoid standing for long periods of time to prevent attacks.

Pregnant women who eat too little and have low blood sugar sometimes experience dizziness, accompanied by palpitations, fatigue, and cold sweats, which usually occur when they eat less. During pregnancy, I ate less because of the pregnancy reaction - vomiting. Eating less will cause low blood sugar. Blood sugar is the raw material for muscle cells and brain cells to produce energy. When blood sugar is low, cell energy is reduced, leading to fatigue, dizziness, cold sweats, palpitations and other discomforts. Therefore, this type of pregnant women should eat more breakfast and the quality should be better, such as milk, eggs and so on. At the same time, carry some milk candy with you. Once dizziness occurs, eat the candy immediately. It can relieve the dizziness and also play a therapeutic role.

The above is a detailed introduction to the reasons why pregnant women feel dizzy in the afternoon. I believe pregnant women should have a basic understanding of it, so if such a situation really occurs, they should pay more attention to rest, otherwise it will be very bad for their fetus.
