What tests are needed for ectopic pregnancy?

If women who have just gotten married or have reached childbearing age have sexual intercourse and do not take safety measures during intercourse, there is a high possibility that they will have an ectopic pregnancy. Maybe at the beginning, the woman thought she was pregnant and was excited for a long time. So how should we distinguish between ectopic pregnancy and normal pregnancy? What tests are needed for ectopic pregnancy?

How to detect ectopic pregnancy?

The most common site of ectopic pregnancy is the fallopian tube, and a few can also be seen in the ovaries, cervix, etc. If the surviving fertilized egg in a fallopian tube pregnancy falls off into the abdominal cavity and occasionally continues to grow on the abdominal organs such as the greater omentum, an abdominal pregnancy is formed.

Therefore, when you find that you are pregnant, it is better to go to the hospital for examination. Ectopic pregnancy can usually be detected around 42-49 days.

Some special laboratory and clinical tests:

1. HCG determination: It is currently an important method for early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy.

2. Ultrasound diagnosis: B-ultrasound examination is particularly commonly used for the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. Vaginal B-ultrasound examination is more accurate than abdominal B-ultrasound examination.

3. Posterior fornix puncture: Posterior fornix puncture is widely used to assist in the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. Blood can often be drawn out and does not coagulate after placement, and contains small blood clots. If no fluid is removed, the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy cannot be ruled out.

4. Laparoscopic examination: In most cases, early ectopic pregnancy can be diagnosed after medical history, gynecological examination, blood; HCG measurement, and B-ultrasound examination. However, for some cases that are more difficult to diagnose, examination under direct laparoscope can provide a clear diagnosis in time and surgical treatment at the same time.

Ectopic pregnancy is life-threatening if not detected early. Therefore, in life, everyone should learn a little about this aspect. Even if you don’t have an ectopic pregnancy now, which is the best, you must also take precautions against it so that you can identify it in the first time when it really happens and not panic.
