How long does it take for a pregnant woman to have her period after breastfeeding?

Pregnant women will feel that their menstruation is abnormal after giving birth, especially after breastfeeding, their menstruation becomes irregular. So how long will the menstruation come? For some pregnant women, it has a lot to do with breastfeeding, especially some women will only have menstruation after weaning. So is this situation a disease? Do you need to see a doctor? So it needs to be explained carefully.

The resumption of menstruation in postpartum mothers is related to breastfeeding. Mothers who are not breastfeeding will have their first period and may start ovulating 6 to 10 weeks after giving birth, or about 2 months after giving birth. For mothers who breastfeed, the first ovulation may be delayed to 24 to 27 weeks, which is about 6 months after conception, or even more than a year.

From a medical point of view, it is closely related to the recovery of 35% of the tissue morphology in the uterus after 33 to 42 days. Medical experts speculate that the ovaries may ovulate as early as 33 to 42 days after delivery, as evidenced by the presence of the ovulated corpus luteum observed 6 weeks after delivery. Therefore, if the mother does not breastfeed, menstruation will usually come 6 to 8 weeks after delivery. Data show that about 2/5 of mothers who do not breastfeed will resume ovulation 6 weeks after delivery. By 8-12 weeks after delivery, about 35% of women have not resumed ovulation and menstruation.

Everyone's situation is really different. Some people will have their periods while breastfeeding, while others will have their periods after weaning. In fact, the length of time it takes for the periods to come is normal. However, if the periods haven't come for a year, you should see a doctor for a detailed examination to see if there is some disease causing the period.
