Rh-negative blood type is different from A, B, O, and AB blood types. The latter blood types are more evenly distributed among the population, and blood sources of several blood types are easy to find. Rh-negative blood type is a rare blood type, accounting for less than 1% of ABO blood type people, so it is also called "panda blood." Because expectant mothers with Rh-negative blood type will cause Rh blood type incompatibility between mother and fetus, causing destruction of red blood cells in the fetal blood and fetal hemolytic disease, women with Rh-negative blood type have been troubled by pregnancy issues.

What should I pay attention to when getting pregnant with Rh-negative blood? Pregnancy with Rh-negative blood requires the following precautions:

1. Regularly conduct immunohematological prenatal examinations (blood type antibody testing) on pregnant women.

Once the presence of antibodies is confirmed, it is important to immediately seek treatment at an advanced hospital that specializes in fertility with rare blood types. If antibodies are found to be produced during pregnancy, a check-up must be done every 2 weeks to see if the antibodies increase. If the antibody titer is elevated and is greater than 1:16, it will affect the fetus. B-ultrasound can be used to check whether the fetus has edema, effusion, and arterial anemia. When the antibody rises to above 1:64, amniotic fluid examination can be performed: measuring the optical density value at 450nm wavelength, umbilical vein puncture, checking fetal blood type, hemoglobin, red blood cell count, bilirubin level and anti-human globulin test. If the antibody titer is >128, plasma exchange may be performed as appropriate. When the fetus is severely anemic, intrauterine blood transfusion and postpartum exchange transfusion therapy can be considered.

2. Intrauterine transfusion of the fetus. A small number of fetuses with Rh incompatibility will suffer from premature hemolysis. In order to correct the severe anemia of the fetus and save the fetus, in addition to maternal plasma exchange, early intrauterine transfusion of the fetus should be performed. All of these need to be carried out in advanced hospitals that have the hardware facilities and relevant operating experience. A professional and responsible hospital is very important.
