From pregnancy to postpartum, the biggest change is the uterus. After the fetus and placenta are delivered, the height of the uterine fundus is approximately at the level of the umbilicus. Within 10 days, it will rapidly descend into the pelvis at a rate of 1 to 2 cm per day. During the recovery process of the uterus, you should pay attention to rest. Let’s take a look at the process of uterine repositioning after childbirth. A process 1 Just after delivery, due to congestion and edema of the cervix, it will become very soft, and the cervical wall will be very thin and wrinkled like a cuff. It will take 7 days to return to its original shape. The internal cervix will close after 7-10 days. It takes until about 4 weeks after delivery for the cervix to return to its normal size. 2 After the placenta and fetal membranes separate from the uterine wall and are expelled from the mother, a new layer of endometrium will grow from the basal layer of the endometrium. About 10 days after delivery, except for the surface where the placenta is attached, the rest of the uterine cavity will be completely covered by the new endometrium. Just after delivery, the area of the uterine wall where the placenta is attached is about the size of the palm. By about 2 weeks after delivery, the diameter has shrunk to 3-4 cm, but it will take 6-8 weeks after delivery to heal completely. 3 If there is residual placenta or fetal membrane tissue in the uterus, or the uterus does not contract well after delivery, the recovery of the uterus will be slowed down. In order to return to its original size after delivery, the uterus needs to contract more forcefully, so the mother will feel the pain of postpartum contractions within one week after delivery. This contraction will be more obvious when the mother is breastfeeding, but it will not be unbearable. Medical experts believe that more skin contact with children and breastfeeding are the best stimulation to promote uterine recovery. Second, matters needing attention 1. Urinate promptly after delivery It is important to urinate promptly after delivery to prevent the bladder from becoming over-inflated or often in a distended state. 2. Avoid lying down for a long time during the postpartum period 6 to 8 hours after delivery, the mother can sit up after her fatigue is eliminated, and can get out of bed and move around the next day. This is beneficial to the recovery of the body's physiological functions and physical strength, and helps the uterus recover and discharge lochia. When resting in bed, try to lie on your left or right side and avoid lying on your back to prevent the uterus from tilting backwards. If the uterus has already tilted backwards, you should do the knee-chest position to correct it. 3. Breastfeeding after childbirth Breastfeeding is not only very beneficial to the baby's growth and development, but the baby's sucking stimulation will reflexively cause uterine contractions, thereby promoting uterine recovery. 4. Pay attention to genital hygiene Pay attention to vaginal hygiene after delivery to avoid causing genital tract inflammation, which will further affect the recovery of the uterus. The content related to postpartum uterine reduction is something that mothers who are going to have a baby must experience. The uterus is the important place for nurturing a baby. After giving birth, women should pay attention to physical conditioning during the confinement period, which will help the recovery of the uterus after childbirth. This angel-like position must be properly restored. Let’s cheer together, moms. Keep yourself young and recover as quickly as possible after childbirth to find your charm. |
