The reason why leucorrhea is yellow, sticky and gelatinous

Yellow, sticky and gelatinous vaginal discharge may be due to cervicitis. Gynecological diseases are often troublesome, and abnormal vaginal discharge is often accompanied by various other diseases, which makes women worry. It is not easy for women to detect this kind of disease in private areas, and they are embarrassed to seek medical treatment when they detect it. Let’s take a look at the reasons why leucorrhea is yellow, sticky and gelatinous, so that girls can better understand themselves.

1. Cervicitis concept

Cervicitis is one of the common gynecological diseases, including inflammation of the cervical vagina and inflammation of the cervical canal mucosa. Because the squamous epithelium of the vaginal part of the cervical canal is continuous with the squamous phase of the vagina, vaginal inflammation can cause inflammation of the vaginal part of the cervix. Since the cervical mucosal epithelium is a single-layer columnar epithelium, it has poor resistance to infection and is prone to infection. The most common clinical cervicitis is acute cervical mucositis. If acute cervicitis is not diagnosed and treated in time or the pathogen persists, it can lead to chronic cervicitis.

2. Clinical manifestations

1. Acute cervicitis

Most patients are asymptomatic. Symptomatic patients mainly present with increased vaginal discharge, which is mucopurulent. Stimulation of the discharge can cause vulvar itching and burning sensation. In addition, symptoms such as intermenstrual bleeding and bleeding after sexual intercourse may occur. If combined with urinary tract infection, urinary urgency, frequent urination and pain may occur. If it is a Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection, due to the involvement of the paraurethral glands and Bartholin's glands, congestion and edema of the urethral and vaginal opening mucosa as well as a large amount of purulent secretions may be seen.

2. Chronic cervicitis

Most of the patients are asymptomatic. A few patients may have increased vaginal discharge, which is light yellow or purulent, bleeding after sexual intercourse, bleeding between menstruation, and occasional irritation from the discharge causing vulvar itching and discomfort. Gynecological examination may reveal erosive changes in the cervix, or yellow secretions covering or flowing out of the cervical opening. It may also manifest as cervical polyps or cervical hypertrophy.

Three treatments

.Chronic cervicitis

(1) Chronic endocervical mucositis For persistent endocervical mucosal inflammation, it is necessary to understand whether there is reinfection with Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, whether the sexual partner has been treated, and whether vaginal microbiome imbalance persists. Treatment is directed at the cause. For those whose pathogens are unclear and there is no effective treatment, physical therapy can be tried.

(2) For cervical polyps, polypectomy is performed and the removed polyps are sent for pathological histological examination.

(3) Cervical hypertrophy generally does not require treatment.

After reading the above reasons why leucorrhea turns yellow and becomes sticky and gelatinous, you will have some understanding of its cause, treatment and prevention. Cervicitis and other inflammatory diseases unique to women require careful care. These gynecological diseases require girls to pay more attention to the hygiene of private areas, change and wash underwear frequently, pay attention to personal hygiene, and be sure to do a good job of prevention to stay away from diseases.
