What should pregnant women pay attention to when sitting and sleeping?

Pregnant women should pay attention to their physical inconveniences during pregnancy. They should pay attention to ensuring their physical safety at all times to avoid situations that affect their physical health and avoid dangerous situations because they will seriously affect the safety of pregnant women and the safety of the fetus. So what should pregnant women pay attention to when sitting and sleeping? Let me introduce it to you below.

In the early stages of pregnancy (1-3 months), the fetus develops in the uterus and is still in the mother's pelvic cavity. Direct external pressure or self-pressure will not be very severe, so the sleeping posture of the pregnant woman can be arbitrary, mainly adopting a comfortable position, such as supine or side-lying. Bad sleeping positions such as sleeping on your stomach or hugging something should be changed.

During the second trimester of pregnancy (4-7 months), you should pay attention to protecting your abdomen and avoid direct external force. If a pregnant woman has too much amniotic fluid or is pregnant with twins, she should sleep in a side-lying position, which can make her more comfortable. Other sleeping positions will cause compression symptoms. If a pregnant woman feels heavy in her lower limbs, she can lie on her back and slightly raise her lower limbs with a soft pillow.

In the late pregnancy (8-10 months), it is advisable to adopt the left side lying position. This position can correct the right rotation of the enlarged uterus, reduce the pressure of the uterus on the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries, improve blood circulation, increase blood supply to the fetus, and promote the growth and development of the fetus. But it is not advisable to take the supine position.

To ensure that the fetus obtains adequate oxygen and nutrition during its development, the mother's cardiac output and the amount of blood returning from the pelvis to the heart will increase significantly. However, the gradually enlarging uterus will compress the inferior vena cava, obstructing blood return, which is not good for both mother and child.

When a pregnant woman lies in a supine position for a long time, it will especially affect the amount of blood returning to the heart and cardiac output, which may lead to a drop in blood pressure and supine hypotension syndrome. In severe cases, it may also cause intrauterine fetal death and put the mother's life in danger. The side-lying position, especially the left-side lying position (the uterus often rotates to the right to varying degrees in the late pregnancy), can relieve the pressure on the uterus, improve venous return, and of course avoid the occurrence of the above situation.

Therefore, pregnant women must avoid lying on their backs for long periods of time in the later stages of pregnancy, and should lie on their left side more often when sleeping. If you feel uncomfortable lying on your left side, you can also change to lying on your right side.

The above is my opinion on this issue. If a pregnant woman feels unwell, she should consult a doctor in time for appropriate treatment to avoid dangerous situations due to the above problems, which will seriously affect the health and safety of the pregnant woman. Finally, I wish the pregnant woman a speedy delivery.
