What is uterine polyp?

There are many common diseases. We must choose the correct treatment method when treating the disease. This will be of great help to the improvement of the disease and will not have too much impact on our own body. Many people are familiar with uterine polyps. Such diseases are very harmful to the body and must be treated in time after suffering from them. But what are uterine polyps? Many people are not very clear about it.

What is the cause of uterine polyps?

Uterine polyps often occur after puberty, but are common in women over 35 years old. Single, small endometrial polyps often have no clinical symptoms and are often discovered during gross examination after hysterectomy due to other diseases, or diagnosed after diagnostic curettage. The formation of endometrial polyps may be related to inflammation, endocrine disorders, and especially excessive estrogen levels in the body, which lead to an increase in the area of the endometrium and excessive endometrial hyperplasia.

Regarding this, experts point out that any mass that grows in the cervix, in the cervical canal, or in the uterine cavity attached to the uterine wall by a thin pedicle can be clinically called a cervical polyp. Therefore, the polyp-like mass in the uterine cavity may be a fibroid (a fibroid-like polyp is a pedicle protruding into the uterine cavity under the mucosa). Endometrial polyps are caused by excessive proliferation of the endometrium and can occur at any age. They are a very common type of localized endometrial tumor that protrudes into the uterine cavity. They are smooth and fleshy in hardness, with pedicles of varying lengths. The longer ones may protrude outside the cervical os, while some have shorter pedicles.

Smaller polyps generally have no clinical symptoms, and some polyps that protrude outside the cervix are discovered when bleeding occurs after sexual intercourse and the patient is sought medical attention. For polyps with longer pedicles, laser surgery can be used to remove them under direct hysteroscopy. Any smaller polyps found at the same time can be treated together. Uterine polyps are the best indication for endoscopic laser surgery.

After understanding what uterine polyps are, when alleviating such diseases, you should do it according to your own specific situation. However, it should be noted that the treatment of such diseases also takes some time, so patients must also accept treatment patiently, which will help cure the disease.
