Zhou Yanyan, attending physician and master's student in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, believes that weight loss caused by long-term malnutrition will indeed affect women's ovulation patterns. If the body weight is 20% to 25% lower than the normal body weight, the body's lipid metabolism will be disrupted, causing endocrine disorders, causing irregular menstruation and amenorrhea in women, and then leading to infertility.

Zhou Yanyan said that among the adolescent women with irregular menstruation who are seen in the daily outpatient clinic, 10% to 20% are thin. If they eat a healthy diet and eat more lean protein, their fat metabolism will gradually return to normal after weight gain, and their menstrual disorders will heal without treatment.
