Reasons for having fetal heartbeat but no embryo

As technology becomes very advanced, medical instruments have also become high-tech, so pregnant women now need to go to the hospital regularly for some check-ups, so that they can know whether the fetus in their belly is growing healthily, or what kind of situation has occurred. Let us now understand some of the reasons why there is a fetal heartbeat but no fetal bud.

Reasons:

In the early stages of pregnancy, there is often bloody vaginal discharge or vaginal bleeding, and some are accompanied by mild lower abdominal pain, which scares pregnant mothers who are afraid that the fetus in their belly will be lost. This situation is called "threatened miscarriage". Clinically, in early pregnancy, about 1/4 of the pregnancies may experience bleeding, which may be caused by physiological implantation bleeding or pathological cervical lesions. Especially if there is bleeding after sexual intercourse, it is necessary to confirm whether there are cervical polyps or cervical bleeding. Most bleeding will last for several days or even weeks. The doctor will advise the patient to rest in bed and stop sexual intercourse. If necessary, the patient will be given progesterone or the cervical lesions will be treated.

If the fetal heartbeat is still not seen during ultrasound examination at 6-7 weeks of pregnancy, it is suspected that it is an "atrophic embryonic sac". When patients learn that the embryo result is abnormal, they often feel sad and blame themselves for being too careless and causing this misfortune. In fact, the chance of miscarriage due to natural factors is as high as 15%-20%. About 60% of embryonic atrophy is due to chromosomal abnormalities in the fertilized egg or problems with the fertilized egg itself. This is a natural elimination under the survival of the fittest. Therefore, expectant mothers and fathers do not need to feel too guilty when encountering such situations. The correct attitude is to accept it calmly and cooperate with the doctor for appropriate treatment.

Normally, about 40-50 days after a woman becomes pregnant, the fetus will have an embryonic bud and a fetal heartbeat. If no embryonic bud or fetal heartbeat is found through B-ultrasound examination at this time, it means that the fetus has stopped developing, which is called "fetal growth retardation" in the early stages of pregnancy.

There are many factors that lead to fetal development cessation, mainly abnormal chromosome karyotype of the embryo or fetus, viral infection of the pregnant woman in early pregnancy, exposure to radioactive substances, severe diabetes or hyperthyroidism, mental stress, etc. The cause of fetal development cessation in some pregnant women is not clear.

In foreign countries, all women with fetal growth retardation routinely undergo fetal chromosome karyotype analysis after miscarriage. Of course, in most fetuses with abnormal chromosome karyotypes, their parents have normal chromosome karyotypes. The chromosome abnormality is caused by external factors during the development and formation of the egg or sperm.

The above article introduces in detail the reasons why there is fetal heartbeat but no fetal bud. In fact, everyone already has a detailed understanding. If you encounter this situation in your life, you must remain calm and go to the hospital for a detailed prenatal examination to find out the reason.
