The harm of cervical erosion in women

In fact, in today's life, many women are affected by cervical erosion, especially severe cervical erosion. But we all know that as a common gynecological disease, it can cause great harm to women. Therefore, women must pay attention to their health in their lives. If cervical erosion is found, it must be actively treated because it may lead to infertility or other complications.

1. Cause infertility. The physical and chemical properties of cervical mucus have obvious changes. It contains more white blood cells and the pH value of the mucus is alkaline. When sperm passes through the cervix, not only will the inflammatory microenvironment of the cervix reduce the motility of the sperm, but the sticky secretions will also make it difficult for the sperm to pass through. The inflammatory secretions will also be toxic to the sperm, causing them to consume too much energy and shorten their lifespan. In addition, a large number of sperm will be swallowed up by inflammatory cells and destroyed by bacteria and their toxins. Escherichia coli has a strong agglutination effect on sperm, causing them to lose their motility.

2. Lead to complications. When suffering from cervical erosion, it will cause inflammation of other organs. For example, the pathogens of cervical erosion can ascend to cause endometritis; it can spread through the parauterine ligaments and lymphatic vessels to cause chronic pelvic inflammatory disease; when the inflammation spreads to the bladder triangle, it can cause urinary system diseases and cause irritating symptoms such as urinary pain, frequent urination or difficulty urinating.

In addition, the incidence of cervical cancer in women with cervical erosion is nearly ten times higher than that of the general population. Under the stimulation of long-term chronic inflammation, atypical hyperplasia may occur in the columnar epithelium derived from the proliferation of the cervical canal. If it is not treated promptly and correctly, it will gradually develop into cervical precancerous lesions. Because cervical erosion is often accompanied by HPV infection, it is one of the suspicious signals of causing cervical cancer. This development process generally takes 5-10 years.

Although cervical erosion is a common gynecological disease, women should never take it lightly, because many patients with cervical erosion may develop cervical cancer in the later stage, which poses a greater threat to life and health. Therefore, whether married or unmarried women, they must pay attention to this common sense and take good care of themselves.
