Dietary taboos for lactating mothers

In order to supply enough milk to the baby, breastfeeding mothers need to maintain a balanced diet and consume more high-calorie and high-protein foods than the average person to produce more milk. In fact, mothers only need to drink more soup, water, juice, milk and other nutritional products after giving birth; eat one or two more meals than usual, such as pig's feet peanut soup, fish soup, pork ribs soup and other soups, to promote milk secretion with good results. But what should we pay attention to in our daily life?

Foods that cannot be eaten during breastfeeding

You can't eat spicy food during breastfeeding, because spicy food will enter the baby's body through breast milk and affect the baby's health. But it's okay to eat a small amount of condiments, such as pepper, vinegar, etc.

Don't eat chocolate during breastfeeding, because the cocoa alkali in chocolate will seep into breast milk and accumulate in the baby's body. The cocoa alkali can damage the nervous system and heart, relax muscles, increase urination, and cause indigestion and unstable sleep in babies. Eating too much chocolate will affect the appetite of pregnant women and make them fat.

During breastfeeding, you should not eat foods that will inhibit milk secretion, such as leeks, malt water, ginseng, etc.

During the lactation period, you cannot eat pickled fish or meat. Generally, the daily salt intake for adults is 4.5 to 9 grams. According to your usual habits, you should not avoid salt or eat too much salt. If a nursing mother eats too much salt, it will increase the burden on the kidneys, which is not good for the kidneys and will also increase blood pressure.

Fried food cannot be eaten during breastfeeding. Fried food is difficult to digest, and the digestive power of mothers is weak. In addition, the nutrition of fried food has been lost a lot during the frying process, and eating it is not good for the mother's recovery.

Do not eat too much MSG during breastfeeding. Eating MSG has a serious impact on the development of infants. Especially for infants under 12 weeks old, it will cause adverse consequences such as intellectual impairment and growth retardation. It is best for breastfeeding mothers to avoid MSG during breastfeeding. Do not be greedy and eat MSG every meal.

Breastfeeding is a special stage in life. In addition to ensuring her own nutrition, a great mother must also provide her child with all the nutrients needed for growth. Therefore, breastfeeding women must pay attention to their own reasonable diet, eat more vegetables and fruits that are beneficial to their health, exercise more, and provide the baby with the richest and healthiest nutrients.
